The new generation 2020 Subaru Outback coming with some interesting changes, both in the exterior and in the engine room. The news from the company keeps the automotive world impatient to see the whole picture, and we are surely among those crowd. The exterior features are getting a makeover and the interior lean toward the more luxurious look.

Potentially releasing of the hybrid variant and the Sport version are the top chart topics as well. Drivetrain area will bring two engine options, both enough power to make this 5-seat crossover smooth on the roads. The longer wheelbase will ensure better handling and increase resilience. In addition, the upgraded safety features and the cozy cabin will provide a lot of enjoyable time during the long travels.

The Subaru Outback is ready for refreshment, as the Japanese company prepares to launch the sixth generation of this model. The same build quality and roughness will be on this new generation 2020 Subaru Outback as well.  The vehicle will get the new Subaru Global Platform with a lower center of gravity, which will bring better handling and boost structural rigidity and flexibility. Furthermore, the new model will follow the design directions of the Legacy but don’t expect anything too sporty.

The front fascia will increase ruggedness of the overall shape and the rear end is now slightly higher. The taillights will look sharper than before, but far from the C-shaped look of the Forester taillights. The dimensions will grow a bit, with the Global Platform comes to a longer wheelbase also. Under the hood, the company will probably switch from the high-capacity engine to the turbocharged one.

The upcoming 2020 Subaru Outback brings more charismatic and gentle exterior design, similar to the Dynamic X Solid. The prominent hexagonal grille will be more square-like, comparable to the one on the Forester. The fender vents will get a minor reshaping and the plastic add-ons on the lower side will be kept as well. The side profile is low with small side windows and the rear quarter panel adds more burly bulging. The character line is also down there to underline it all very nicely.

The roofline won’t get any major changes, it will remain pretty much the same as on the Legacy. Moreover, the new model will be slightly longer than his older brothers. The 2020 Subaru Outback will be around 190 inches long and with the wheelbase length of 110 inches. That will ensure much better handling for the vehicle.  The system is packed with a variety of other functions including Adaptive Cruise Control and Lead Vehicle Start Alert or Lane Departure Warning and Lane Sway Warning.

The interior of the new 2020 Subaru Outback will be more modern- looking, with the focal point on the center of the dashboard. Expect the bigger touchscreen to control the infotainment system and multicolor gauge behind the steering wheel. The Outback remains 5-seat crossover with the great ride quality and really comfortable cabin.  Also, the new sound deafening features are also included, for even more pleasant feel during the ride.

The Subaru Eyesight system comes as standard with the base model. This system uses a set of cameras to identify objects around the vehicle, such as pedestrians and other cars. If the situation demands, the system decreases the throttle or activates the brakes to help avoid the crash. The new safety function is built in, such as Lead Vehicle Start Alert and Lane Departure Warning. Equally, the Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Sway Warning will keep you safe and sound.

There is more than a few stories on the web regarding the arriving of 2020 Subaru Outback. One of the most interesting is the possibility of launching a hybrid version. Also, once a very popular Sport model may come back as well. The Japanese company starting the process of electrification, and the Outback could follow the way and get the hybrid engine.

The first model in the crossover class who carry the plug-in system is Subaru Crosstek in 2015. This experiment didn’t go very well but now it seems like the engineers are ready to try on more time. Moreover, the hybrid will boost the fuel economy and make the vehicle more eco-conscious. The long forgotten off-road star, the Sport version will probably hit the streets again. It probably gonna be a smaller crossover with better handling and off-road efficiency. The new turbo-four powertrain surely will be built in the Sport version.

The 2020 Subaru Outback will offer two gas-powered engines with the CVT transmission. The first option is classic 2.4-liter 4-cylinder with 180 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. The other one is 3.6-liter 6-cylinder powertrain that provides 260 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque.

Direct injection will also become the standard with the arriving models. Furthermore, both the CVT gearbox and the AWD system are going to stay for the new generation.  The company also offers a 6-speed manual transmission for the Touring trim level for the Canadian market.


2020 Subaru Outback Release Date and Price

The MSRP for 2020 Subaru Outback will be set around $30,000 for the base model. The current version has a price range between $26,000 and $40,000. With that prices, the outback is in line with the Audi A4 Allroad and Honda CR-V. The release date still unknown, but with the 5-year life circle of crossovers, we can expect the announcement soon.

The company may just wait for the big stage to step up and tell us the news. The perfect one is at 2019 North American International Auto Show in January. The vehicle is going to be available for purchase by the fall of 2019.
