The next year will be very interesting in the world of HD pickups. The all-new generation of Ford Super Duty models is coming, while Chevy Silverado HD is about to get a mid-cycle refresh. Therefore, it’s no wonder that we are also getting reports about the 2023 RAM 3500 update. It looks like Ram’s HD lineup is also about to come with updates, with a mid-cycle refresh. The current generation has been around since 2019, so this may be the perfect timing for updates.

At this point, the officials are still quiet about this update. Still, we may presume that the focus will be on styling updates, as well as on certain interior modifications. On the other hand, we don’t believe that this refresh could bring bigger changes in terms of powertrain and mechanics in general.

Despite the updates, we don’t believe that the new model could arrive much earlier than usual.

If it happens, this update probably won’t bring significant changes. Most of the things are about to remain the same, while the main modifications will happen in terms of the styling. Naturally, most of the changes would happen at the front, where we expect to see modifications on the grille, headlights and similar parts. Simply, we expect to see a little bit bolder, more aggressive look than before.

On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle should remain pretty much the same. We are about to see the same overall layout, which has so many to offer. What we particularly like is the suspension setup, which offers a fantastic balance between comfort and utility. For example, this truck can tow up to 37.000 pounds but at the same time, it offers the best ride quality in the class by a large margin.

Interior

Interior changes are possible too, though we don’t expect to see too many of them. Simply, the current model already features by far the nicest cabin in the class, with fine materials and great build quality. Moreover, higher trim levels even look very luxurious, so much that we can’t look at this truck as a work machine.

Therefore, the best we could see are some changes regarding color schemes and materials. Furthermore, we might see some minor revisions on the center stack, but we don’t believe that the company could add a new touchscreen, even though the current 12.0-inch unit doesn’t seem so exclusive anymore.

In any case, the overall layout will remain the same and we also count on the same configurations on the offer. Therefore, there will be three cab styles – Regular Cab, Crew Cab and Mega Cab;  as well as two bed sizes – 6 feet 4 inches and 8-foot unit.

2023 RAM 3500 Engines

Once again, it’s hard to believe that bigger changes could happen, though we wouldn’t be surprised to see a slight increase in power and torque in certain versions. In any case, base models will continue with a familiar 6.4-liter V8 HEMI engine, which currently puts out around 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission.

On the other hand, the diesel version will continue with a good old 6.7-liter inline-six from Cummins, which currently comes in two output variants. The base version puts out 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque, while the upgraded version is good for 420 horsepower and 1.075 pound-feet of torque. Also, this engine comes with the older-generation 6-speed automatic transmission from Aisin, but we doubt that the company will change this gearbox before complete redesign.

Trim Levels

We are pretty sure that the trim level organization will remain the same for the next year, even though each version could come with a couple of novelties in terms of standard features. The offer should start with the well-known Tradesman trim, which is mostly about essential features and doesn’t offer too much convenience. The Big Horn will remain the first upgrade, with things like power accessories, a bigger touchscreen and some styling upgrades.

Of course, there is the mid-level Laramie trim, which offers a great balance between price and amount of features. Longhorn and Limited in particular, are trim levels where the company comes with a full load of tech and convenience features, as well as a lot of unique exteriors and interior details that make this truck look quite luxurious.

2023 RAM 3500 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 RAM 3500 will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 40.000 dollars.
