The legendary nameplate came back this year, with a completely new design. The new model is bigger and more capable than ever and even though it’s more expensive than rivals from Ford and GM, it seems like a great value. Therefore, we don’t believe that the 2023 Jeep Wagoneer, which will represent the second production year, could bring more important changes. We count on a familiar design, though there’s always a chance to see novelties on the list of standard equipment and similar things. Also, some sources speculate about the Trailhawk edition.
All in all, we are about to see the same overall design, which has a lot of great things to offer. This SUV comes standard with a muscular V8 engine and offers class-leading towing capacity by a large margin. At the same time, it offers one of the nicest cabins around, along with a super-smooth and refined ride.
Considering that no bigger changes are expected for the next year, we expect that the 2023 Jeep Wagoneer will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.
2023 Jeep Wagoneer Design
Design-wise, the 2023 Jeep Wagoneer will definitely continue in the same way. We are about to see a familiar layout, based on the same BoF platform as the Ram 1500. Despite the rugged nature and excellent off-road and towing capability, this SUV features a pretty refined suspension setup, which provides a smooth and comfortable ride. Visually, things are pretty similar with the more luxurious Grand Wagoneer and considering the very fresh design, we don’t believe in any updates for the next year.
Some sources speculate about the Trailhawk edition. This model would bring additional off-road upgrades, though we have to say that the current model is already available with a lot of these upgrades. It can be configured with the air suspension that provides ground clearance of up to 10 inches, as well as with a two-speed transfer case, all-terrain tires, skid plates and more.
The interior design is arguably one of the strongest points of this SUV. The dashboard looks very stylish, thanks to its attractive design and a nice selection of materials. The rest of the cabin features pretty impressive quality as well, while the long list of standard and available tech and convenience features makes this cabin even more appealing.
Besides quality, this cabin also offers practicality. It offers plenty of space, both for passengers and for cargo. Of course, three rows of seats are standard and even the third row can accommodate adult passengers in a nice way. The front seats are massive, supportive and highly adjustable, while the second-row bench can be replaced with captain’s chairs.
The cargo area offers 27.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 70.8 cubic feet with these seats folded, and 116.7 cubic feet of the total cargo space. While that’s plenty of room, there are several models from GM (Yukon, Tahoe and Suburban) that offer even more impressive cargo areas.
As we are talking about the second production year, it’s hard to believe that the 2023 Wagoneer could bring bigger changes regarding the standard and available equipment. So, we expect that base versions will come with goodies like a 10.1-inch touch screen, a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, eight USB ports, satellite radio, nine-speaker stereo, keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, and tri-zone automatic climate control.
Among upgrades, expect to find things like a panoramic sunroof, a 10.3-inch passenger-side touch screen, a 19-speaker stereo, and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 10.1-inch displays and Amazon Fire TV.
When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with a rearview camera, parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control etc.
2023 Jeep Wagoneer Engine
Things under the hood definitely won’t change and the 2023 Jeep Wagoneer will continue with a single powertrain option. Of course, we are talking about the well-known 5.7-liter V8, which in this case puts out around 392 horsepower and 404 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough for solid driving dynamics, while we should also highlight the Wagoneer’s max towing capacity, which goes all-away up to 10.000 pounds.
The engine comes in pair with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, which does a fantastic job. When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, which is about average for a full-size SUV.
2023 Jeep Wagoneer Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Jeep Wagoneer will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 70.000 dollars. If you look at the price, the Wagoneer sits between premium and mainstream segments, so it’s no wonder that some premium models like Infiniti QX80 are also seen as its competition.
