There aren’t many SUVs around that are as legendary as the Grand Cherokee. For nearly three decades, this SUV has been one of the most popular models in its class and also one of the biggest money-makers for Jeep. The new generation is no exception. Moreover, it brings significant improvements that make this car more appealing than ever. Considering all the improvements that have been made, we are pretty sure that the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which will represent the second production year, will come without more important changes.
Still, keep in mind that this refers primarily to standard models. On the other hand, we believe that this will be a year for Grand Cherokee’s high-performance versions. We expect that the new generation will also come with SRT and Trackhawk models on offer. Other than that, we expect to see a familiar SUV, which has so many good things to offer, including a newly-introduced three-row model.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the current generation of Jeep’s mid-size SUV is pretty fresh and that’s why we expect no bigger changes for the next year. We are pretty sure that the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will feature the same design, which is based on a new, Giorgio platform. That’s the same architecture that underpins models like Alfa Romeo Stelvio, so you may presume that improvements over the previous generation are significant. The new model is lighter, more efficient and far more athletic than before.
On the other hand, styling changes weren’t that significant. Of course, the new look is amazing but it brings mostly evolutionary changes. Logically, the next year’s model will continue with the same styling, though we could smaller updates, such as new color options. Also, keep in mind that the new high-performance version will probably come with a couple of exclusive styling details.
Interior
The same thing goes for the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee interior. We expect no changes for the next year and that won’t be an issue at all. Simply, the recent redesign has brought significant upgrades both in terms of quality and style. The new dashboard looks very stylish and pretty luxurious. We like its attractive design, as well as its high-quality materials. Furthermore, the build quality is very good, while there is also plenty of tech features, which make everything look even better.
The standard version comes with two rows of seats and both of them are very generous with space. They accommodate adults with ease, while the cargo area offers decent capacity as well. You may count on about 37.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 70.8 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.
The three-row model features a longer wheelbase and offers a pretty functional third row. Also, you may count on more cargo space – 17.2 cubic feet of space. That expands to 46.9 cubic feet with the third row folded down and 84.6 cubic feet in total.
Features
We don’t believe that the next year’s model could come with too many changes in this aspect. The 2023 Grand Cherokee should carry on with the same list of standard equipment, which should include dual-zone climate control, digital instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio, USB ports, Bluetooth, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The list of options should include things like a dual-pane sunroof, remote start, quad-zone climate control, a 10.1-inch touch screen, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, wireless device charging, and navigation.
When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, forward automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Engines
Under the hood, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee is expected to bring a couple of high-performance versions. The first one would be the SRT model, which traditionally comes with a 6.4-liter V8. In the previous generation, this version was good for about 475 horsepower, so we may see a slight power increase for the new model. The flagship Trackhawk model would continue with the Hellcat engine, with more than 700 horsepower. Details are yet to come.
On the other hand, the rest of the powertrain lineup will remain the same. Base models will continue with a 3.6-liter V6, which puts out 293 horsepower. Also, the well-known 5.7-liter engine will continue in the same way, with a max output of 357 horsepower. Finally, there’s a recently-introduced plug-in hybrid model, with 375 horsepower.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 38.000 dollars. Key competitors should be models like Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, Buick Enclave etc.
