The Korean manufacturer has grown into one of the world’s carmakers but despite the scale, it still doesn’t produce traditional trucks and SUVs that ride on a good-old body-on-frame platform. There were a few tries back in the day and one of them was called Terracan. It was a mid-size SUV, offered in various parts of the world and equipped with all kinds of off-road features. These days, it looks like the nameplate could come back, tougher than ever. The rumors suggest it could come as the 2023 Hyundai Terracan but the officials are still quiet. Therefore, make sure to take the following paragraphs with a big reserve.

At this point, many things are still unknown but there are also a few aspects about the revived Terracan we can predict. For example, we are pretty sure we would once again see a genuine SUV, riding on a traditional ladder-framed chassis. Furthermore, we expect to see a pretty large vehicle, with three rows of seats. Finally, we count on all kinds of off-road features to be offered.

The 2023 Hyundai Terracan could arrive already some time in the next year.

2023 Hyundai Terracan Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the revived model would have a lot more in common with the original. The overall design approach would be largely the same. This particularly refers to the fact that the 2023 Hyundai Terracan would also be a mid-size SUV, based on a traditional body-on-frame platform.

At this point, details about the platform are still unknown. The original model was based on the second-generation Pajero but this time, we think that the Korean manufacturer will rather build its own platform. We count on a genuine SUV design, which would feature a rugged but also refined suspension setup, as well as good off-road potential.

Speaking of the off-road potential, we think of things like high ground clearance, good suspension travel, available four-wheel-drive etc. Tougher versions should also come available with goodies like low-range gearing, locking differential and similar upgrades.

Exterior

When it comes to the exterior design, we expect that the 2023 Hyundai Terracan will be a mid-size SUV. Therefore, dimensions should be typical for the segment, which would mean around 115 inches in wheelbase.

Several sources already came up with rendering photos and all of them show the same design approach, which includes a pretty futuristic styling, with narrow headlights and a massive grille, as well as with bumpers that are designed to improve approach and departure angles. The whole vehicle looks pretty muscular, while the overall shape has some resemblance with Toyota 4Runner.

Interior

In terms of interior design, the only thing we could talk about is space. Considering the expected dimensions, the 2023 Hyundai Terracan should come standard with three rows of seats. The front seats should be massive and supportive, while the second row should also accommodate adults with ease. On the other hand, the third row would be typically tight for the segment, more suited for kids.

On the other hand, it’s hard to talk about the dashboard and cabin aesthetics in general. We presume that the dash will feature a modern look, with clean lines and fine materials. The whole cabin should feature good quality, with materials that are nice but more on durable side. Of course, we also count on all kinds of modern tech goodies, starting from the company’s latest infotainment system and other connectivity features.

2023 Hyundai Terracan Engine

There are various options for the 2023 Hyundai Terracan in terms of the powertrain. For example, base versions could easily feature the same engine as the Palisade. We are talking about a 3.8-liter V6 engine, which features a max output of around 290 horsepower. Some sources rather suggest turbocharged engines, which are used in Hyundai’s luxury division – Genesis. One of the engines could easily be a 3.5-liter turbo V6, which features a max output of 375 horsepower.

In any case, we expect that all engines would come coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Also, the four-wheel drive would probably be standard in all models, while versions for certain parts of the world could also come with a diesel engine. That model would probably use a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel with 274 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque.

2023 Hyundai Terracan Release Date and Price

At this point, the 2023 Hyundai Terracan is just a rumor, so the actual chances to see it revived aren’t too big. However, there are some sources that suggest this SUV could arrive already in the next year. We presume that the starting price would go around 45.000 dollars.
