Today’s market is full of comebacks of the familiar nameplates from the past. Many carmakers practice that and Chevy is no exception. We’ve already seen a comeback of the legendary Blazer and now we are getting reports that the Avalanche could come back as well. If we can trust rumors, this could happen already in the next year, and the new model would come as the 2023 Chevy Avalanche.
At this point, the officials are still quiet about this comeback, so it’s hard to talk about more specific details. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate about possible design characteristics. Some of the things are relatively easy to predict, especially in terms of mechanics, engine options and similar things.
2023 Chevy Avalanche Design
When it comes to base design characteristics, we presume that the 2023 Chevy Avalanche wouldn’t be significantly different than the previous generations. The base approach would be pretty much the same, which means the same layout as the first two generations. To remind you, the first and the second generations were quite popular during the first decade of the 21st century. However, the economic crisis and high gas prices during the initial years of the 2010s completely killed this vehicle. The production ended in 2013.
All Avalanche models were closely related to Chevy Suburban, so we have no doubt that would be the case with the 2023 Chevy Avalanche as well. This means it would ride on the same chassis and feature the same suspension setup, which includes independent rear suspension, which certainly has a big impact on the ride quality. This also means that the new model would be notably bigger than its predecessor, both in terms of the wheelbase and other measurements.
Exterior
The exterior design would have a lot in common with the current, 12th-generation Suburban. We would see the same styling, at least at the front end. Practically, things would look pretty much the same all away to the C-pillar. On the other hand, the third row of seats and cargo area would be replaced with a decently-sized cargo bed.
As we’ve just mentioned, the overall size would be pretty similar to the SUV sibling. This means that the wheelbase would probably go around 134.1 inches, which is 4.1 inches more compared to the previous Avalanche.
Interior
The same thing goes for interior design. The new 2023 Chevy Avalanche would adopt the same dashboard, which was introduced with the recent redesign. It looks very attractive and also comes with really nice materials, while the build quality is pretty good as well. The Suburban also comes with lots of tech features, so we would expect the same thing from its pickup truck iteration. This includes things like a 10.2-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, eight USB ports, HD Radio, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. Higher trim levels would add goodies like a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, navigation, nine- and 10-speaker stereo systems, moonroof etc.

2023 Chevy Avalanche Engines
When it comes to predictions about the 2023 Chevy Avalanche, this is probably the easiest aspect. So, base versions would certainly come with a 5.3-liter V8 engine, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. For those who look for better performance, a bigger and more capable 6.2-liter V8 would be offered as well. This engine puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
Both engines would come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
We wouldn’t exclude the possibility to see the new model with a diesel engine as well. If this happens, we have no doubt that Chevy would use a familiar 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which features a max output of 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This engine also comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Safety
We would also expect to see the new Avalanche equipped with a long list of standard and available safety features. All versions would come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, parking sensors, forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beams etc.
Among upgrades, we expect to find things like adaptive cruise control, surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, head-up display etc.
2023 Chevy Avalanche Release Date and Price
If we can trust rumors, the 2023 Chevy Avalanche could arrive already in the next year. If it comes, we presume that base versions would cost around 50.000 dollars.
