If we can trust the latest reports, it looks like the Ingolstadt company is finally entering the full-size segment. So far, Mercedes-Benz and BMW were the only German companies with full-size crossovers but that will change soon. The 2023 Audi Q9 is expected to come soon and it will compete with models like the GLS and X7. At this point, we are still waiting for the official confirmation but most sources suggest that this is a certain thing.
Even though details are yet to come, we pretty much know what to expect from the new SUV. Besides large dimensions, it is expected that the Q9 will feature Audi’s familiar design, both in terms of mechanics and aesthetics. Naturally, we count on a familiar design approach regarding interior, while the biggest benefit of this model will come in the form of more passenger and cargo space.
The 2023 Audi Q9 should arrive already in the next year.
2023 Audi Q9 Design
Design-wise, the 2023 Audi Q9 will be a full-size crossover. At this point, the officials are still quiet but we have no doubt that the new model will ride on the company’s well-known MLB platform, the same one that underpins most Audi models. Therefore, you may count on a familiar layout, with the standard Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Naturally, we count on further upgrades regarding suspension and chassis setup, which would provide even better ride quality than models like Q7 and Q8 offer.
Surprises aren’t expected in terms of aesthetics either. The 2023 Audi Q9 should feature a familiar layout, based on the brand’s latest design language, established by the Q8. Furthermore, we expect to see some inspiration from the e-tron lineup, particularly at the front. On the other hand, the overall shape should come in a typical station wagon manner, with a long wheelbase and a pretty long wheelbase.
Interior
Traditionally, Audi makes excellent interior designs, so we expect nothing less from the new flagship model. Therefore, the dashboard should feature a combination of conservative design and high-quality materials. Of course, a lot of inspiration will be taken from models like Q8 and A8. This would include familiar tech features as well, particularly those massive infotainment and digital cluster screens.
Still, the biggest benefit from the 2023 Audi Q9 would come in the form of a more spacious cabin. The Q7 is currently the biggest SUV in the lineup but it isn’t particularly generous with space in the third row. That should change with the new model, while we also count on more cargo space. The first two rows should bring bigger surprises.
2023 Audi Q9 Engines
When it comes to powertrain, we are pretty sure that engineers from Ingolstadt will rely on proven solutions. Most likely, base models will come with a familiar 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, which puts out around 335 horsepower. That should be enough for decent driving dynamics but we have no doubt that the twin-turbo V8 would be offered as well. Currently, this engine is available in two variants, with either 500 and 591 horsepower. We presume that both versions would be slightly tuned up for this occasion.
All engines would come coupled with 8-speed automatic transmission.
Some sources also speculate about a plug-in hybrid version, but we are a little bit skeptical about this powertrain option.

2023 Audi Q9 Release Date and Price
If we look at unofficial reports, it looks like the 2023 Audi Q9 could arrive already in the next year. However, the problem is that the officials are still quiet. If it arrives, we presume that base versions will cost somewhere between 75.000 and 80.000 dollars. As we already mentioned, models like BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS will be key competitors.
