Qashqai is the most popular Nissan crossover in the world. Rogue sells great in the US, but the Qashqai covers more buyers. If we have to find a counterpart of the European model in the United States, that would be the Rogue Sport. There is a connection between these three vehicles. Last year, we saw an all-new Rogue. The 2022 Nissan Qashqai won’t be changed, because after the US crossover, it received similar updates. Now, it is the turn for Rogue Sport to continue the update with the same styling language. The first units were spotted testing and there are a lot of similarities with the sibling from other markets.
The new model still draws attention. Nissan is not experimenting too much. The success came with the Qashqai needs to be maintained. Well, there are a few other popular models we cannot find in the US. European buyers love the subcompact Juke, especially its Nismo version. The bigger option is X-Trail. In China, the Japanese company is offering an all-new Terra, which might be the underpinning for the new Xterra in the United States. Finally, the final piece of the non-US model is the large Patrol, a sibling to the Armada SUV.
The 2022 Nissan Qashqai won’t bring any key update. The all-new model for the 2021 season has just been launched. Here is what we will get in the next few seasons.
What’s new for the 2022 Nissan Qashqai?
The crossover is fresh. The company put a lot of effort to update its most popular model in Europe. The 2022 Nissan Qashqai will also bring back the +2 model with the third row of seats. Well, it is not too roomy, but provides an additional option.
The vehicle was unveiled last week and the styling is pretty attractive. Nissan makes the Qashqai more aggressive from the outside, and fresh inside. Plus, there is the updated multimedia system, with a larger screen and intelligent safety options. A hybrid model is also available. It is more efficient than before. The ProPilot assist is a step closer to Level 4 of autonomous drive, the ultimate goal for the Japanese company. Nissan will start selling the new crossover in the final quarter of 2021. That means we will see it as the 2022 YM.
Qashqai to Underpin the new Rogue Sport, Renault Kadjar
The 2022 Nissan Qashqai will serve as the inspiration for many other vehicles, not only in the brand’s lineup. Nissan has a few partnerships, and the biggest alliance is with Mitsubishi and Renault. The French powerhouse made a great effort introducing its crossovers and SUVs. Kadjar is one of the most popular models and it was recently spied with the updated look. There is no need to say where the inspiration for the redesign comes from.
The Rogue Sport is the youngest member of Nissan’s lineup. The crossover fits between Rogue and Kicks, as the second smallest vehicle in the squad. It debuted a few years ago and many see it as the 2022 Nissan Qashqai for the US market. Of course, there are plenty of differences, but these are the same vehicles by nature. The Rogue Sport is also under the facelift process and we expect to see the fresh styling in a few months.
2022 Nissan Qashqai Specs, Hybrid
The offer is going to depend on the country where you’re buying the 2022 Nissan Qashqai. But, the most markets will offer the new 1.3-liter four-pot engine. Two configurations are available. In the base form, the crossover produces 140 hp, while another version adds 20 ponies. The mild-hybrid system is not going to boost the power, or the gas mileage during runs. Still, the MHEV setup saves some fuel by deactivating the engine when coming to a stop. A six-speed manual transmission is a pair for the 1.3 engine and sends power to front wheels. If you upgrade the ride to the AWD, the CVT will be a power router.
The 2022 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid, also called Qashqai E-Power comes with a 1.5-liter engine as the main source of power. It can produce 157 hp, but the electric support increases the total output of the hybrid system to 190 horsepower. Although you can plug and charge batteries, the 2022 Qashqai Hybrid is not going to cover a long distance by using only the electric motor. The battery will run out before you pass the first mile.
2022 Nissan Qashqai Release Date
The new vehicle was presented in mid-February. But, fans will have to wait until the sales start. The carmaker announced that the 2022 Nissan Qashqai will be available late this year. Expect the first units to hit dealerships in selected markets in the final quarter of 2021. The Qashqai Nismo is not in plans yet.
