One look at all the changes that were introduced with the recent facelift and it becomes pretty easy to make a conclusion that the 2022 Nissan Armada will come without more important changes. The recent facelift has brought a significantly updated styling, as well as some pretty big interior changes, including a new infotainment screen. The list of standard safety features has been expanded as well, while the familiar V8 engine now features more power and torque.

Considering all this, you may count on familiar characteristics in the next-year model. You may count on a quiet and comfortable interior, powerful engine, engaging handling and decently equipped cabin. When it comes to things we don’t like, the first thing that comes to mind is fuel economy. Also, the third row is pretty tight for the segment standards.

As there are no significant updates to come, we presume that the 2022 Nissan Armada release date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year.

As we’ve just mentioned, it is hard to expect any more notable update for the next year, considering that the recent update has brought a lot of big novelties. First of all, there is the styling. Compared to the pre-facelifted version, the new model looks miles better. It has adopted the same front face as the Patrol, and it includes futuristic headlights, a new grille, bumper etc. All in all, the overall appearance is really impressive and we have no doubt that the 2022 Nissan Armada will be no more than a carryover in this aspect.

When it comes to mechanics, things will also remain the same. Although the current generation has been around since 2016, we are actually talking about a decade-old design, as this SUV is pretty much the same thing as the internationally-offered Patrol. Despite the age, it rides smoothly and offers a decent level of comfort. At the same time, handling is pretty engaging.

Interior

The recent update has also brought interior updates. Without any doubt, the first thing you’ll notice is a new 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Also, the cabin comes with new materials and few more new design solutions at the dashboard. Finally, there is a 7-inch screen on the digital cluster. All in all, the cabin looks good and feels upscale. However, there are still numerous areas with outdated styling solutions, which make rivals look more appealing.

When it comes to the passenger space, the first two rows are very generous with space. The seats are nice, while the driving position is pretty good as well. On the other side, the third row is tight and can’t accommodate anyone but kids. The cargo area is good for about 16.5 cubic feet of space behind its third-row seats, 49.9 cubic feet with the third row folded, and 95.4 cubic feet of the overall volume. While these are solid numbers for the class, rivals like Chevy Tahoe and Ford Expedition offer more.

Features

While some additions to the list of standard equipment are possible, we are pretty sure that most of the things are about to remain the same. Therefore, all models will come standard with dual-zone climate control, push-button start, a 12.3-inch touch screen, navigation, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, wireless device charging, Bluetooth, USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay. Additionally, you can pay extra for things like a moonroof, a 13-speaker Bose audio system and a rear-seat entertainment system.

This SUV also comes with a long list of standard safety features. Some of the highlights are goodies like forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, driver drowsiness monitoring, adaptive cruise control, vehicle exit warning, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.

2022 Nissan Armada Engine

Under the hood, the 2022 Nissan Armada will continue with a good-old 5.6-liter V8. After the last year’s upgrade, the max output now goes up to 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with a 7-speed automatic transmission, which also does a pretty fine job. All in all, driving dynamics are pretty good, while the overall driving experience is nice.

On the other say, we can’t say that this engine is efficient. Instead, it is quite thirsty, considering that you may count on about 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. Practically, Toyota Sequoia is the only thirstier model in the class.
