2022 Infiniti QX80

The current generation of Nissan’s flagship SUV has been around for more than a decade but it looks like the Japanese carmaker doesn’t plan to replace it in the near future. From what we can hear, the current generation is expected to remain in production for a few more years, which indicates that the 2022 Infiniti QX80 will come without more important changes. Of course, minor updates like new colors and standard features are always possible.

All in all, you may count on a familiar design and characteristics. This SUV may be old but it’s been updated two times, while the second facelift has brought a completely new styling, which makes it look really fresh. Furthermore, we like its pretty engaging handling, while the V8 engine delivers plenty of power and sounds great. Finally, the cabin is pretty spacious and offers lots of cargo room.

Considering that there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2022 Infiniti QX80 will hit the market sometime late in the year.

2022 Infiniti QX80 Design

Despite the rumors, the 2022 Infiniti QX80 redesign won’t happen. The current generation will remain in production for a few more years and we don’t believe that bigger changes could happen before the overhaul. Therefore, you may count on the same design, which has been updated a couple of years ago. The latest version takes a lot of inspiration from the Monograph concept and definitely looks pretty good.

Besides attractive styling, this SUV also offers very good mechanics. Its on-road ride is balanced very well, offering surefooted handling and a high level of comfort. Also, you may count on pretty good off-road performance. The ground clearance is 9.2 inches, while you can also get upgrades like four-wheel drive, two-speed transfer case and similar things. The only drawback are tires, so if you plan to drive off the road, you will have to get bigger tires.

Interior

This aspect definitely won’t bring changes and you may count on a design that has both good and bad things. On one side, the overall quality is pretty good. The materials are nice, while the build quality is pretty impressive. On the other, not many things have changed since the initial launch in 2010. So, the dashboard definitely looks outdated. It doesn’t look cheap, but most rivals look more upscale.

When it comes to seating, the first two rows are pretty spacious and comfortable. Also, you can get the second-row captain’s chairs. The third row, on the other hand, is a little bit tighter compared to rivals. The cargo area also offers pretty decent numbers for the class. You may count on about 16.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 49.6 cubic feet with these seats folded, and 95.1 cubic feet in total. While that’s a lot of space, it’s still far away from the class leaders like Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln Navigator L.

Features

We could see a couple of novelties in this aspect but we have no doubt that most of the things are about to remain the same for the next year. Therefore, base models should come standard with goodies like keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, tri-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, power liftgate, 8- and 7-inch touch screens, a navigation system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, HD Radio, satellite radio, and a 13-speaker stereo. When it comes to upgrades, you can get options like a 17-speaker sound system and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 8-inch displays.

the 2022 Infiniti QX80 interior may not look as flashy, but one of the aspects where this SUV stands out is safety. The list of standard features will be pretty long and it will include a rearview camera, a surround-view parking camera system, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a rear-seat alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Practically, adaptive headlights are the only available upgrade.

2022 Infiniti QX80 Engine

Under the hood, the 2022 Infiniti QX80 will continue with a good-old 5.6-liter V8, which puts out around 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. The engine has plenty of power to move this large SUV with ease and driving dynamics are actually pretty good. Also, the engine comes in pair with a 7-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty fine job.

What’s not so impressive about this engine is fuel economy. You may count on about 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. These are among the lowest ratings in the class.

2022 Infiniti QX80 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2022 Infiniti QX80 release date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year. When it comes to the price, base models should cost around 71.000 dollars.
