2022 Honda Passport

The 2022 Honda Passport will represent the fourth production year and even though some reports suggest updates, we don’t expect to see them. Simply, the current model looks fresh in every aspect and we don’t believe that too many things could change before the redesign. We rather believe that the next year’s model will be a typical carryover and the best we could see are minor updates in terms of new standard features and similar things.

On the other side, the overall layout will certainly remain the same. This SUV will continue to offer a powerful a capable powertrain, along with a spacious and quality interior. We also like its styling and a quite decent list of standard safety features. However, a few drawbacks are present as well. The list of standard tech goodies could be longer, while the infotainment system is a little bit complicated to use.

As there are no significant changes to come, the launch date should be scheduled for the end of the year.

As we just mentioned, the next year’s model probably won’t bring any particular change. We are about to see a familiar layout. This model debuted a few years ago and it shares a lot of parts with the Pilot. However, it is slightly shorter and offers a little bit better off-road performance, though it isn’t exactly an adventure SUV.

Visually, the front end closely resembles the three-row sibling, but there are few exclusive details as well. Also, this model is slightly shorter, which makes it easier to maneuver. The ride quality is pretty good and offers a fine balance between comfort and engaging handling.

For the next year, the best we could see is the addition of new color options. Anything more than that would be a real surprise.

Once again, we don’t expect to see bigger changes. The 2022 Honda Passport interior will remain pretty much the same as in the current model, which means that you may count on fine overall quality. Materials are nice, while the build quality is very good. Also, we really like the driving position, which is high and ensures good visibility in all directions. The front seats are massive and supportive.

Besides good overall quality, this SUV is also quite spacious. It comes with two rows of seats and both are very generous with leg and headroom. All in all, we can say it accommodates five adults with ease. The cargo area is also very generous. You may count on up to 50.5 cubic feet behind the second row and up to 100.8 cubic feet of the total volume, which is really impressive for a two-row SUV. Moreover, these numbers are higher compared to those in most three-row SUVs.

Additions in this aspect are always possible but we are pretty sure that most of the things will remain the same. So, base models should come standard with goodies like remote start, keyless entry, tri-zone climate control, an 8-inch touch screen, a seven-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, a USB port, and smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Things like navigation, a 10-speaker stereo, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, two additional USB ports, wireless device charging, and a 115-volt household-style power outlet will be available.

When it comes to safety, all models will come standard with a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and a road departure mitigation system. There are also options like front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert. We presume some of these could become standard in the next year.

2022 Honda Passport Engines

When it comes to 2022 Honda Passport specs, things will remain the same. You may count on a good-old 3.5-liter V6, which puts out around 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. That amount of power ensures pretty solid driving dynamics, as well as a max towing capacity of 5.000 pounds, which is also a respectable number. The engine comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which does a very good job and the whole combination of engine and transmission offers a very high dose of refinement.

When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the class. Of course, AWD models are slightly thirstier.

These days, we can also hear rumors about the 2022 Honda Passport Hybrid, but we believe that the electrification won’t happen before the full redesign.

2022 Honda Passport Release Date and Price

We expect to see the next year’s model sometime in the last quarter of the year, with the starting price of around 33.000 dollars. Key competitors will be models like Ford Edge, Chevy Blazer, Hyundai Sante Fe etc.
