2022 GMC Yukon: What to Expect?
GMC’s full-size SUV has been redesigned recently. For that occasion, we saw a lot of new things, starting from a new styling, new interior, mechanics and more. The new model seems improved in every aspect, which gives us reason to believe that the 2022 GMC Yukon won’t feature too many changes. After all, we are talking about the second production year of the generation, which is the time when we usually see no more than a couple of minor tweaks in terms of standard equipment.
So, what we expect to see is a familiar layout, which arrived last summer. The new generation offers plenty of interior space, impressive cargo volume and a full load of standard and available equipment. Furthermore, it comes with three quite capable engine options on offer. All this makes it a pretty good choice among full-size SUVs. We don’t expect it will hit the market much earlier than usual.
2022 GMC Yukon Design
Since we are talking about the second production year, we are pretty sure that the 2022 GMC Yukon will come with the same specs and features as the initial model. The recent redesign has brought a lot of new things. There is a new platform, with a lower center of gravity, independent rear suspension and a body that saves hundreds of pounds. All these things have a highly positive aspect on driving experience, which is much better compared to the previous generation. The 2022 GMC Yukon AT4 will also continue in the same way, with exclusive features like standard 4×4 drive, two-speed transfer case, hill descent control etc.
When it comes to the styling, the best we could see for the next year are new color options. The overall styling will certainly remain the same. You may count on a pretty attractive, bold design, which takes a lot of inspiration from the Sierra pickup truck. Of course, the Denali trim includes typical exclusivities, such as chrome wheels, unique grille etc.
Once again, no bigger changes are expected. We are about to see the same cabin layout that was introduced last year. This means you may count on two interior variants. While standard models feature a table-like infotainment screen, the 2022 GMC Yukon Denali will continue with the exclusive dash, which includes an integrated touchscreen, finer materials and a more upscale overall feel.
Besides good build quality, the 2022 GMC Yukon interior will also offer plenty of passenger and cargo space. In our opinion, this is one of the SUV’s strongest points. First of all, all three rows offer plenty of legroom and this is actually one of the rare SUVs that can accommodate eight adult passengers with ease. The cargo area offers 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 72.6 cubic feet with the third-row seats folded down and 122.9 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. Those are impressive ratings for the class.
A couple of additions to the list of standard equipment are possible but we have no doubt that most of the things are about to remain the same for the next year. Therefore, you may count on a list of standard equipment that includes things like a 10.2-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, six speakers, satellite radio, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, six USB ports, and Bluetooth. Additionally, you can get goodies like a panoramic sunroof, navigation and a rear-seat entertainment system.
We don’t expect things to be any different in terms of safety either. So, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, a rear-seat reminder, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, front and rear parking sensors etc.
2022 GMC Yukon Engines
This aspect of the 2022 GMC Yukon definitely won’t bring changes. We are about to see three familiar units in the offer. Of course, base models will continue with a good-old 5.3-liter V8, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet torque. If you’re up for something peppier, there is the excellent 6.2-liter V8, which features a max output of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
One of the biggest novelties that came with the recent redesign was the introduction of a diesel version. This one uses a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which puts out around 277 horses and 460 pound-feet of torque. Thanks to the massive torque, it moves this SUV with ease, even though it’s slower compared to V8 units.
All three engines come in pair with a 10-speed transmission, which does an excellent job.
2022 GMC Yukon Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2022 GMC Yukon release date scheduled for the last quarter of the year. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 51.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Nissan Armada, Toyota Sequoia etc.
