The current generation of this mid-size crossover has been around for about four years and if we consider that the company already did a mid-cycle refresh, it’s pretty much safe to say that the next few years won’t bring any particular change. Simply, the current generation should remain active for some more time and it’s hard to expect modifications before the overhaul. Still, minor updates in terms of new features and color options are always possible.

All in all, you may count on a pretty versatile SUV. It comes with three engines in the offer and offers pretty good fuel economy. Also, it is spacious and comfortable, while the sound insulation is very good. Add to this a quite long list of standard equipment and you get a great family hauler. On the other side, more ambitious drivers will probably complain about the handling, which isn’t particularly engaging.

Since there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2022 GMC Acadia will hit the market sometime late in the year.

2022 GMC Acadia Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2022 GMC Acadia shouldn’t feature any particular change. We expect to see a familiar layout, which was introduced four years ago. This SUV rides on GM’s familiar C1 platform and brings everything that comes with it. It’s comfortable and spacious, but it isn’t particularly fun to drive, which is the case with all models that ride on this platform, including Traverse, Cadillac XT6 etc.

In terms of styling, this generation received a facelift a while ago. So, we expect the 2022 GMC Acadia to continue with all the changes that were introduced on that occasion. This means a rather bold and trucky styling which takes a lot of inspiration from models like Sierra and Terrain. Of course, minor updates are always possible, so the next year could easily bring things like new color options etc.

Interior

The inside of the 2022 GMC Acadia should also carry on in the same way. This SUV is spacious and features a well-designed cabin. Yes, there are few areas with low-rent materials but the overall impression is pretty good. The dashboard looks attractive and combines nice color schemes. Also, there is a fair amount of tech goodies, which makes it look more upscale.

We also like the driving position, which is relatively high and provides great visibility in all directions. The front seats are spacious and comfortable, while the second row also accommodates adults with ease. On the other side, the third row isn’t that generous with space and feels a little bit tight. Still, that’s a quite typical thing for the segment.

When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 12.8 cubic feet behind the third row, 41.7 cubic feet behind the second and 79 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. All in all, that’s quite okay for the class.

Features

Novelties in this aspect are always possible but we are pretty sure that most of the things are about to remain the same. Therefore, all models should come standard with goodies like tri-zone climate control, an 8-inch touch screen, a six-speaker audio system, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, five USB ports, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The list of options should include goodies like a dual-panel sunroof, wireless device charging, navigation, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, HD Radio, and a rear-seat entertainment system.

The same story is with safety features. Base models should continue with standard features like a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, a rear-seat reminder, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring with lane change alert.

2022 GMC Acadia Engines

We count on three familiar engine options in the offer for the 2022 GMC Acadia. So, base versions should carry on with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, which puts out around 193 horsepower. That’s not too much power, given the vehicle’s size and weight, but seems enough for daily commuting.

Still, we would rather go with the 2.0-liter turbo-four, which offers 230 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Thanks to much more torque, this engine offers far better dynamics compared to the base unit.

Finally, there is the good-old 3.6-liter V6, which puts out around 310 horsepower and offers the best performance of the three engine options. However, it is also the thirstiest powertrain in the range.

When it comes to transmission, all three engines come with a 9-speed automatic gearbox, which does a pretty good job.

2022 GMC Acadia Release Date and Price

As there are no significant changes to come, there is also no reason to expect 2022 GMC Acadia’s arrival before the last quarter of the year. When it comes to the price, base versions should go around 30.000 dollars.
