It may sound unfamiliar in North America, but Ford Everest is a well-known SUV in certain parts of the world, particularly in Australia and Asia. If we can trust the latest reports, the new generation will arrive already in the next year, as the 2022 Ford Everest. It is about to get a completely new design and what’s great to hear is that the new model will remain based on the Ranger. In other words, the 2022 Ford Everest will remain a genuine, fully-framed SUV.

This means we know what to expect. The new model will come with evolutionary changes. The platform will remain the same, but it will get significant updates. Of course, the new Everest will keep its rugged nature, but we also expect Ford engineers to improve the model’s overall practicality. Finally, we count on new engine options in the offer. The new 2022 Ford Everest should be offered with a gasoline powertrain, while some rumors also suggest a plug-in setup.

At this point, the Blue Oval company is still quiet about the release date but we presume that the new model could arrive already in the first half of the next year.

2022 Ford Everest Redesign

First of all, it’s great to know that the new 2022 Ford Everest will continue to ride on a genuine fully-framed platform, which will ensure a high dose of rigidity and ensure strong off-road capabilities. We know for sure that the new model will continue to ride on the current T6 platform, borrowed from the ranger. The upgraded version of the platform will bring improvements in various aspects, starting from a new suspension setup.

Of course, the new model will remain off-road capable, but the new suspension setup should be more sophisticated and ensure a better driving experience on the road. Also, we can hear rumors about the Raptor version, which would bring all kinds of upgrades, starting from all kinds of off-road goodies, such as upgraded suspension, locking differentials, two-speed transfer case, skid plates, off-road tires and similar things.

Exterior

When it comes to the exterior design, the testing model has been spotted. From what we can see, the overall shape won’t change. The 2022 Ford Everest will continue with similar proportions and overall shape. On the other hand, the styling will be completely new.

At this point, we can’t see too much, considering that the new model still wears camouflage. Still, we presume that the front end will look pretty similar to the upcoming Ranger. The two models should look the same from the front, while Everest’s overall shape should keep a classic SUV layout, with a boxy overall shape and lots of rugged aesthetical solutions.

Interior

We have no doubt that the 2022 Ford Everest will receive a completely new layout. At this point, we still don’t know the details, but the dashboard should look completely new. We count on more modern aesthetics, as well as on nicer materials. Also, we have no doubt that the company will implement lots of advanced tech goodies. This includes the new infotainment system as well, with a 12-inch touchscreen in base models. Higher trim levels could come with something even bigger.

We don’t expect that the 2022 Ford Everest will be significantly bigger compared to the outgoing model. So, the amount of interior space shouldn’t change much eighter. Of course, the new model will continue with three rows of seats, but the third row won’t be adult-friendly. The cargo area should be slightly bigger, but the current model already offers quite respectable numbers for its class.

2022 Ford Everest Engines

Big novelties are expected under the hood of 2022 Ford Everest. At this point, we know for sure that base models will come with the current 2.0-liter turbo-four. Also, we expect that the company will offer a bigger 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which can be found under the hood of F-150. This engine features a max output of 250 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque.

Also, we expect to see the new model powered with a gasoline engine. That will probably be a 2.7-liter V6, which puts out around 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. This engine should power the Everest Raptor but could be offered in other versions as well.

Finally, there is the possibility to see a plug-in hybrid version. At this point, the officials are still quiet, so we won’t speculate about the possible configurations.

All engine options should come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
