Caddy’s biggest crossover has been around for two years and we have no doubt that it’s still early for bigger updates, especially if we consider that the last year’s model came with a new base engine that lowered the price significantly. Therefore, we expect that the 2022 Cadillac XT6 will come with a familiar design, without any particular changes. Naturally, there is always room for minor tweaks, for things like new colors and features.
On the other side, the overall layout will definitely remain the same, which means that you may count on familiar design characteristics. This SUV has a couple of pretty good things to offer. We like its spacious cabin, as well as composed handling and generous cargo volume. However, there are also a couple of things we don’t like, such as subpar interior quality and lack of a more powerful engine option.
Since there are no bigger changes to come, we presume that the 2022 Cadillac XT6 will hit the market sometime late in the year.
2022 Cadillac XT6 Design
When it comes to 2022 Cadillac XT6 changes, they will be minimal, especially when it comes to base design characteristics. This model will continue with a familiar layout, which is based on a familiar C1 platform. This model shares a lot with GMC Acadia, including the wheelbase that goes around 112.7 inches. Still, there are numerous mechanical upgrades, especially in terms of suspension setup, which makes the ride much smoother.
What we like about this crossover is the styling. It is based on the Escala concept and even shares some styling bits with the Escalade. With such a mature look, we don’t expect to see bigger changes in the next couple of years. Still, there is always a chance to see updates in terms of new color options and similar things.
The inside of this luxury crossover is a kind of mixed bag. While it looks nice, it’s easy to notice a couple of areas that feature low-rent materials. That’s something you wouldn’t expect to see in this class. The overall quality is far from the German competition, while even cheaper rivals like Acura MDX look better from the inside.
On the other side, you will definitely like the 2022 Cadillac XT6 interior in terms of space. This model offers two very spacious and generous rows of seats. The third one is typical tight for the class but does the job well. Still, the front seats would use more support and generally look not particularly massive.
The cargo area is definitely a strong point of this SUV. You may count on 12.6 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 43.1 cubic feet behind the second row, and 78.7 cubic feet behind the first row. Generally, those are above-average numbers for the class.
We don’t expect to see bigger changes in terms of standard equipment either. The current model already seems okay in this aspect. It comes standard with goodies like tri-zone climate control, sunroof, 8-inch touch screen, six USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, an eight-speaker Bose stereo, satellite radio, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. If you’re willing to pay extra, you can get things like an 8-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless device charging, navigation, a 14-speaker Bose stereo, and a rear-seat entertainment system with dual displays. Some of these options could become part of the standard equipment.
The same thing goes for safety features. All models come standard with goodies like lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. Additionally, you can get things like blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, a surround-view parking camera system, a night vision camera, adaptive cruise control, reverse automatic emergency braking, parallel and perpendicular park assist etc.
2022 Cadillac XT6 Engines
The 2022 Cadillac XT6 will continue with two familiar engine options in the offer. The current model came with a new base engine, a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 237 horsepower. This engine is the reason why XT6 is significantly cheaper than the initial version, though models like Lexus RX are still more affordable and better cars in general. The engine by itself does a decent job and we particularly like its fuel economy. It goes around 21 mpg in the city and 27 on the highway. That’s pretty good for the class.
The optional V6 is a better choice. It is good for about 310 horsepower and offers notably better driving dynamics. With this one, you may count on about 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
2022 Cadillac XT6 Release Date and Price
We expect to see the new model in showrooms in the last quarter of the year. When it comes to the 2022 Cadillac XT6 price, we don’t expect bigger changes compared to the current model, which starts at around 49.000 dollars.
