“Our electric future is NOW” is the new GM’s motto. Before the company announced big plans, the Lyriq concept was already presented and drew a lot of attention. It started the evolution, and two production models are already confirmed – Bolt EUV and Hummer truck. But, what happens with the prototype? For now, we don’t have a confirmation about the 2022 Cadillac Lyriq release date. According to some sources, the SUV might be here after the first wave, in 2023, alongside a few other models.
Highlights of the 2022 Cadillac Lyriq will be a futuristic design, advanced technologies, and of course, the EV drivetrain. The SUV is not going to lack luxury accessories. Well, it’s a Caddie. The modern interior and aesthetic exterior have seen on the prototype will be slightly modified. We know the vehicle is going to get a few configurations, and single- and dual-motor setups were confirmed. First estimations say the range could exceed 300 miles. General Motors is still working on the recharging technology, so these numbers are not final yet. The earliest release date might be late this year. Well, we say it in Super Bowl commercial, which means the development is in advanced stages.
2022 Cadillac Lyriq Range, Power, Recharge Time
Power outputs for the 2022 Cadillac Lyriq are not confirmed yet. The electric SUV is using rear-wheel drive in its base form. The battery sits on the rear axle. You can purchase a dual-motor configuration, where another electric unit is added to the front end. Experts see the Luriq matching I-Pace’s 4.3-second 0-60 mph sprint time.
Engineers will install batteries with capacities between 50 and 200 kWh. The precise specs sheet is not out yet. But, the longest range is going to be more than 300 miles. On the other hand, performance models will chase max speed, a lot of power, and quick acceleration. The cost is shorter range. Still, it won’t be lower than 200 miles. Home outlets will take the most time to recharge batteries. Cadillac and General Motors will put on sale special systems that can speed up the process. Special stations are going to charge the fastest. We assume that 80 percent of the battery could be restored in less than an hour.
After a few appearances, we can sum up the impressions and make the first expectations. By being the all-electric SUV, the 2022 Cadillac Lyriq already puts a bar very high. The first teaser image only showed the exterior shape. Now, when we see that GM is serious about electrification, we assume the prototype and concept can be brought into production. The commercial during the most watched sports event in the US, Super Bowl, confirmed the rumors.
The interior is quite interesting, with only four seats. This might be a higher-level option. Center console is between seats, front and rear. The production version will definitely offer five seating spots. According to an official statement, the cabin of the 2022 Cadillac Lyriq will be airy and more open. Comfort and elegance are not in doubt. It is early to talk about details, but numerous accents will make the ride more joyful.
The prototype of the 2022 Cadillac Lyriq is showing some impressive features. A huge screen is dominating. We doubt the production version will feature the 33-inch display, at least not in the base form. The interior seems to match the luxury of the flagship SUVs. The audio system comes with 19 speakers. The famous company in this world, AKG, is taking the responsibility for the premium sound. Again, this seems like the high-end feature.
The Lyriq is also going to use the Super Cruise system. This is an autonomous drive package for the next generation. Not too many vehicles can beat the offer by the GM. The technology comes with advanced features, such as auto parking, lane change assist, and automatic braking. In the base form, the electric SUV will keep lane departure alert, pedestrian recognition, while in the future, General Motors plans to develop Level 4 of autonomous drive.
2022 Cadillac Lyriq Release Date and Price
The combination of premium technologies and advanced electric drivetrain don’t promise the price that will make buying an easy decision. However, experts believe the highlights of the concept vehicle are going to be available at higher trim levels, while some are about to be dropped. Estimations say the base version could start around $60,000. Fully-loaded, the 2022 Cadillac Lyriq could be very close to the six-digit price. The battery warranty will last for eight years or 100k miles.
The release date of the 2022 Cadillac Lyriq is postponed. It is not the only SUV that faced the delay, since the new Chevy Equinox and Traverse were also supposed to be here as 2021 YM. Sadly, COVID-19 outburst is the reason why everything was on hold and release dates are rescheduled. We still hope the Lyriq is coming somewhere in 2022, but it can be also launched as the 2023 YM.
