Like most other premium carmakers, Buick struggles to keep up with the German competition. The competition is tougher than ever and as a result, updates are more frequent. The current generation has been around since 2018 and the 2022 Buick Enclave is coming with big updates. This is a typical mid-cycle update, which brings novelties in various aspects, both outside and inside the vehicle.
The biggest changes are in terms of the styling, of course. You can notice changes on both ends of the vehicle, while the interior brings few tweaks to the dashboard design. Also, the list of standard equipment has been expanded notably. On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle remained pretty much the same, including the powertrain. The suspension setup is also the same, so we presume that most drivers won’t notice a difference in terms of the ride quality.
2022 Buick Enclave Design
The 2022 Buick Enclave receives a mid-cycle refresh and the changes are pretty notable. As we’ve just mentioned, the biggest updates are those regarding styling. There is a new exterior design, which includes changes in various areas. At the front, you can notice new, sleeker headlights, along with a new bumper that looks more aggressive. The rear end comes with a new bumper as well, while there are also typical mid-cycle updates like new wheels, color options etc. All these things made the 2022 Enclave look more appealing than before.
On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle remains the same. This model rides on a stretched version of the C1 platform, just like the Traverse. However, it features a more refined suspension setup, so the comfort is on a higher level. On the other hand, this platform doesn’t provide too much athleticism, so those who are looking for a sporty luxury mid-size SUV should rather consider models like Acura MDX.
The interior brings a few interesting updates as well, starting from a few tweaks on the dashboard. There is a new push-button start, while you can also notice a little bit nicer materials and more attractive color combinations. The rest of the cabin remains largely the same, so we could say that the interior is somewhere halfway from the mainstream to the premium segment, considering that the quality and general refinement are still far away from the German competition.
On the other hand, there is nothing to complain about regarding interior space. The first two rows are very generous with space, while the third row can be pretty useful as well. Also, the front seats offer a decent level of support and comfort for longer trips. The cargo area offers around 23.6 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 58 cubic feet behind the second row, and 97.6 behind the first. That’s an impressive amount of space, especially among luxury three-row SUVs.
This update brings several interesting updates in terms of standard and available equipment. When it comes to tech goodies, the infotainment system remains the same but the Enclave now comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
Novelties are way more impressive in terms of safety features. Things like automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear parking sensors, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high-beam headlamps, which used to be optional, are now standard. On the other hand, adaptive cruise control remains optional.
2022 Buick Enclave Engines
The 2022 Buick Enclave will continue with a familiar 3.6-liter V6 under the hood. This engine features a max output of 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to provide pretty good driving dynamics. Also, the engine comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to either front or all wheels, and which works pretty well.
When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the class. Models with all-wheel drive are slightly thirstier.
