2022 BMW X7

The 2022 BMW X7 will represent the model’s fourth production year but we won’t see bigger changes. The next year’s model is about to continue in the same way and the only changes we are about to see are those in terms of standard and available features. Some things have been added, but some have been removed too. For example, wireless charging is no longer part of the standard equipment. On the other hand, the M50i now comes standard with sunshades for the second-row mirrors.

Despite the minor updates, the overall layout remains the same. You may count on an SUV that offers pretty impressive performance for the segment, with engaging handling and capable engine options. Furthermore, we like its interior design, as well as the overall build quality. When it comes to things we don’t like, we should mention that most rivals offer more passenger space.

The 2022 BMW X7 is about to hit the market in the next few months.

2022 BMW X7 Design

The 2022 BMW X7 will represent the fourth production year but we won’t see any significant changes. The current model will carry on in the same way, which means that you may count on the same mechanics and aesthetics. Mechanically, this model is also based on the CLAR platform and it shares most of the parts with the X5. We like its engaging handling, though rivals like Mercedes-Benz GLS feel slightly more comfortable.

Of course, the next year’s model will continue in several versions, including the M-badged models, which come with all kinds of mechanical and visual upgrades, including bigger brakes, sportier suspension etc. Once again, the Alpina XB7 will sit at the top of the offer, with the most powerful engine, Alpina transmission, tuned suspension, sports differential, upgraded exhaust etc.

Interior

What we really like about this model is its cabin. Of course, the 2022 BMW X7 interior will continue in the same way. This interior may look simpler and less upscale than the one found in the GLS, but the overall quality is really impressive. We like the materials, which look great in a combination with conservative styling approach.

The driving position is excellent, while the front seats are massive and supportive. The second row also accommodates adult passengers with ease and provides plenty of comfort on longer journeys. On the other hand, the third row isn’t that impressive, although it can be very useful. Most rivals are more generous with the third-row space.

When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on 12.8 cubic feet behind the third row, which isn’t very impressive. On the other hand, 48.6 cubic feet behind the second and 90.4 cubic feet of the total cargo volume seem pretty good for the segment.

Features

As we’ve just mentioned, some things will be added, while others will be removed from the list of standard equipment. Still, most of the things are about to remain the same. All models will come standard with goodies like a 12.3-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a 10-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, two USB ports, navigation, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic moonroof, quad-zone automatic climate control, remote start, proximity keyless entry, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a universal garage door opener. Additionally, there are optional features like gesture control, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound stereo, a 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound stereo, a driving information recorder, glass interior controls, heated and cooled cup holders, five-zone automatic climate control etc.

When it comes to safety features, all models will come equipped with a rearview camera, adaptive headlights, automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, speed limit recognition, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing windshield wipers etc.

2022 BMW X7 Engines

Under the hood, things will remain the same. Therefore, base models will continue with a well-known 3.0-liter inline-six, which puts out around 335 horsepower, which would be enough for most drivers. For more ambitious buyers, the 2022 BMW X7 M50i will continue in the same way. This model features a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, which puts out around 523 horsepower. Both engines come in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which does a fantastic job.

Finally, there is the Alpina XB7 model, equipped with the upgraded version of the V8 engine, with a total output of 612 horsepower. Also, there is an Alpina-tuned transmission.

2022 BMW X7 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2022 BMW X7 release date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year. Base models should go around 77.000 dollars, while the most expensive variants, such as the Alpina-badged model, will cost over 140.000 dollars.
