2022 Acura RDX Is Ready For Mid-Cycle Refresh
Affordable, luxurious, practical and fun to drive. This compact crossover perfectly shows the Japanese philosophy of luxury, which is all about giving the highest possible value for the money. Therefore, it’s no wonder that the current generation of RDX is one of the most popular models in the class. Of course, Acura’s management wants to retain this position, so it’s no wonder that a mid-cycle update is on the way. This model will come as the 2022 Acura RDX and it will bring several interesting novelties.
As you may presume, the upcoming mid-cycle refresh will be mostly about styling changes. We are about to see tweaks on both ends of the vehicle, which should make it competitive for another couple of years until we see a complete overhaul. On the other side, we don’t expect to see bigger interior changes. The list of standard features will certainly become longer, while we can also hear rumors about a hybrid version.
The 2022 Acura RDX should hit the market sometime in the second half of the year.
2022 Acura RDX Facelift
As we’ve just mentioned, the upcoming refresh will be mostly about styling changes and the test mule is here to confirm this. It has been on the road for a while and from what we can see, the camouflage is present on both ends of the vehicles. At the front, we expect to see revisions in areas like grille and bumper. Also, the rear bumper will be reshaped, while we can also notice new, rectangular exhaust pipes. This sounds like a nice set of changes but we are pretty sure that all of them will be quite subtle. Simply, the current model already looks pretty attractive and follows the brand’s latest design language entirely.
A few more typical mid-cycle updates are also expected, in the form of new color options and wheel designs. On the other side, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle will rather remain untouched.
At this point, details about the interior design are still unavailable. Still, we are pretty sure that there won’t be too many of them. Most of the things are about to remain the same, as the current cabin already looks pretty nice. More importantly, the level of quality is surprisingly high for an Acura, so it’s hard to imagine any significant modification in this case. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see updates in terms of new color schemes and similar things.
Besides solid quality, this crossover has always been known for its practicality. Of course, the 2022 Acura RDX will continue in the same way, offering a cabin that has two spacious rows of seats, lots of storage compartments and more than decent cargo volume. Speaking of the cargo volume, you may count on about 29.5 cubic feet with the back seats up and a maximum of 58.9 cubic feet, which is above-average for the segment.
We have no doubt that the upcoming refresh will also expand the list of standard equipment, even though the current model stands pretty well in this aspect. Base models already come with goodies like a 10.2-inch display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, HD Radio, satellite radio, two USB ports, a nine-speaker stereo system, voice recognition, panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, push-button start etc.
When it comes to possible additions to the list of standard features, we presume they are current among options. Some of the highlights are things like navigation, two rear-seat USB ports, a 12-speaker premium audio system, a 16-speaker premium surround-sound audio system, and a 10.5-inch head-up display.
2022 Acura RDX Engines
At this point, we can hear rumors that speculate about the possible hybrid version. If that happens, we presume such a version would use an upgraded variant of the system that powers the Accord Hybrid. The legendary sedan comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and three electric motors, making 212 horsepower of the total output. However, the officials are still quiet about the 2022 Acura RDX Hybrid.
On the other side, standard models will continue in the same way. We are talking about a refined 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 272 horsepower and 280 horsepower. The engine works great and it is perfectly paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Driving dynamics are great, while the fuel economy is quite typical for the segment. You may count on about 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
2022 Acura RDX Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2022 Acura RDX a little bit earlier than usual, but still within the second half of the year. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 39.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Audi Q5, BMW X3, Lexus NX etc.
