The 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon will be one of the most exciting trucks in the heavy-duty segment. The new generation is still fresh, so there won’t be too many changes to big working machines. Power Wagon is an off-road specialist and it does not face any competition from other carmakers. Still, we can read that Ford is preparing the Raptor version of the F-250. Nevertheless, this is a rumor for many other vehicles, such as Ranger pickup, or Expedition SUV. Chevrolet is also working on its HD lineup. However, the off-road model is not a priority.
The Power Wagon package is available only for the Ram 2500 model. Sadly, the Series 3 HD unit is not going to offer upgrades from this model. We would like to see the combination of the off-road features and dual-rear-wheel setup. Plus, the truck brings modern features and options, which it borrows from a smaller Ram 1500 model. Power Wagon performance is something that makes it stand out from the rest of the lineup. Well, it requires a significant investment. But, if you are adventurer, a $20,000 expense will pay off whenever the 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon gets dirty.

Which Engine 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon is Going to Use?
Under the bonnet of the 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon is going to be a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine. It brings a lot of power, but also consumes a lot of fuel. Official and real-world numbers are not the same, especially if you use the truck in extreme weather and road situations. Reportedly, the vehicle will return only 11 mpg. Still, the Ram Power Wagon makes it up with exceptional capabilities. Well, we expect a lot from a truck that creates 410 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Engineers are not maximizing outputs of the HEMI engine. In some configurations, it can deliver 475 ponies, while we can hear that next-gen Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango could return 500 horsepower.
An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard and AWD is the only drive mode for the 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon. Unfortunately, the truck is not going to get a diesel unit as an option. The 6.7-liter Cummins motor can deliver over 1,000 pounds. Nevertheless, it is not combined with features from the Power Wagon package. In case you go after this engine, we recommend the Ram 3500 Dually configuration, which can maximize the towing capacity up to 35,000 pounds. Standard hauling capability for the Power Wagon is 8,600 lbs, and up to 13,300 maximized. The truck is lifted and gains 2 inches more on ground clearance than the rest of the lineup. Special shocks and suspension will make the ride a lot smoother.

Interior and Exterior
The 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon is based on the new half-ton pickup and it carries over the convenience. We can say the off-road truck looks too fancy and elegant. But, extra options are always welcome. Black leather upholstery is something you won’t meet every day in this segment. There are also a lot of details and accents, including Power Wagon badges around the cabin. We must praise the isolation of the cabin. The current model keeps most dust and noises outside. It is more than needed when you take the truck off the road.
All-terrain tires are there to improve the overall performance. Also, you will recognize the Power Wagon thanks to the unique graphics on the side of the bed. The truck features parking sensors and a 360-degree camera. When driving reverse, these options will be quite useful having in mind the truck comes with a huge tail. An 8.4-inch screen at the center of the dashboard will show what is happening at the back. Optionally, you can upgrade it with a 12-inch display. With navigation, it will cost $2,000. The new generation of the Uconnect infotainment is also on the way.

2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon vs Ford F-250 Raptor
Chevrolet is not the biggest rival to Ford in truck segment. Ram is. The half-ton truck is now the second best-selling vehicle in the US. Also, the company hinted that 707-hp rated Trackhawk edition of the Ram 1500 is coming and experts already call it a Raptor-Killer. Still, the F-150 Raptor is still not facing the competition.
On the other hand, the situation is the opposite in the heavy-duty class. The 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon is the off-road specialist without rivals. It makes fans speculate about the F-250 Raptor model. But, we are listening too many rumors about such upgrades for other vehicles as well. Ford hasn’t confirmed it, and the only thing we can find is the F-250 Velociraptor built by Hennessey aftermarket upgrades. The new truck introduced the Tremor package, a kind of replacement for Raptor. But, it is not even close to meeting expectations.
