If we can rely on the latest reports, there is a big chance to see a completely redesigned version of this mid-size crossover already in the next year. The current model has been around since 2014. While the vehicle still looks modern and features pretty upscale cabin design, it definitely needs improvements in terms of performances and overall driving characteristics. Another thing we don’t like is that there is way too much body roll in corners, like you’re driving a body-on-frame SUV or something like that.
Therefore, it’s no wonder that most reports suggest that the good-old D platform will be replaced with a more modern CMF architecture. This should secure improvements in those “critical” aspects. Also, we count on some weight savings, which would definitely have an impact on the overall efficiency. Still, we have to say, that the current model is still pretty strong in terms of fuel economy and similar aspects.
Styling
Naturally, this redesign should bring new aesthetics as well. The current model looks nice, but doesn’t actually follow the brand’s latest language. Therefore, we expect that the 2021 Nissan Murano will be adapted to the latest derivate of the famous V-Motion grille. We count on a completely new aesthetical approach from both ends of the vehicle. Still, the overall shape probably won’t feature more radical changes.
Of course, we will probably see a little bit sleeker profile. Still, overall proportions shouldn’t be much different compared to the current model. Of course, we could see slightly longer wheelbase, but that won’t be radical either.
Interior
Naturally, we count on a new interior as well. The current model still looks pretty good in this aspect, despite the age. The overall interior quality is on a high level, particularly in terms of the materials and dashboard design. Also, there is a long list of tech features, which make the dashboard look quite opulent. When it comes to the interior space, there are two comfortable rows of seats, while the cargo area is pretty spacious.
All in all, we expect from the Japanese carmaker to keep up with doing a great job and that the new cabin will look as equally impressive as the one in the outgoing model. Of course, each aspect should be improved, while new features should be introduced as well.
2021 Nissan Murano Engines
The current model comes with a pretty good 3.5-liter V6 engine, which is good for about 260 horsepower and CVT gearbox. It delivers pretty decent performances, though most rivals are faster and more agile. That’s a good reason to believe that the next-generation 2021 Nissan Murano should come with a new engine. The current one may remain in basic models, particularly because of the very good fuel economy.
On the other side, we count on a more powerful option. Some reports suggest it could be a 3.0-liter turbo V6 with around 300 horsepower, which seems like a good fit. Other reports suggest that the current V6 could be replaced with a smaller, turbo-four engine. There is a lot of speculation, so the best would be to wait to hear something from the officials.

When it comes to the price, we don’t expect bigger changes compared to the current model. Of course, at least when it comes to base versions, which currently start at around 31.500 dollars.
When it comes to the competition, there are several two-row mid-size crossovers on the market. Of course, the biggest rivals are models like Ford Edge and Hyundai Santa Fe, but there is also a new Honda Passport. Finally, Grand Cherokee features two rows of seats as well, despite much more powerful engine options.
