Considering that the current generation of this compact luxury crossover has been around since 2014, we expect to see a complete redesign in the near future. That should happen in a year or two. Of course, we count on a lot of novelties in all aspects. Despite the current model still sells well, some improvements would be nice. Although the current model is super reliable and offers a long list of standard equipment, it still rides on the previous-generation New MC platform, so we can’t say if features the best driving characteristics for a vehicle of this size. The 2021 Lexus NX redesign will bring a lot of changes, starting from the new TNGA undeprinting.
Also, we count on a new design, improved performances and efficiency, and much. Of course, this includes loads fo new standard features as well. We expect to see a new model in about a year or two.
2021 Lexus NX Redesign
The current generation of this luxury compact crossover is still a pretty good car, but it definitely needs some improvements. Therefore, we have no doubt that the 2021 Lexus NX changes will be numerous. This will be a complete overhaul, so the first thing that comes to mind is the platform. The current model still waits to switch to a new TNGA platform, which will bring significant improvements, particularly in terms of handling and driving dynamics. Of course, we count on improved efficiency as well.
Exterior
When it comes to the exterior design, we don’t expect to see any radical changes. In terms of size, the new model will probably get about an inch in wheelbase, just like it was the case with the new RAV4. Still, the overall shape should remain pretty similar. Of course, the new model will be adapted to the brand’s latest design language, which means that we will see an evolution of the current design. The famous spindle grille design language will remain, though significantly update. Other than that, we don’t expect bigger surprises.
Interior
This aspect has always been the model’s strong point, so we have no doubt that things will remain the same in the future. The current model features pretty amazing interior, full of hi-quality materials which deliver that premium feel. Moreover, this is also one of the most spacious cabins in the class. This particularly refers to rear seats, which are among most comfortable in the segment. Also, the cargo volume is pretty decent.
The 2021 Lexus NX 300 and 300h models will come with new cabins. This time, we expect an even better overall quality and a higher level of comfort. New dashboard design and loads of new features are something we count on as well.
Features
When it comes to standard equipment, we count on an even longer list compared to the current model and to remind you, the current model is already pretty impressive in this aspect, particularly when it comes to the safety system. The current model already comes standard with Lexus Safety System+ 2.0. This package includes things like pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, bicyclist detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist etc. Additionally, you can get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a surround-view parking camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic emergency braking.
On the other side, things aren’t that impressive when it comes to tech features. The biggest complaint goes to the infotainment system, which is very complicated to use. Also, the current model does come with Apple CarPlay, while Android Auto is not available. We expect From Lexus to introduce a new infotainment system, with a touchscreen and all kinds of smartphone connectivity features.
2021 Lexus NX Engines
At this point, it is hard to tell whether the 2021 Lexus NX redesign is about to bring changes under the hood or not. The current model comes with a 2.0-liter turbo, which is good for about 235 horsepower and would definitely use more power. Therefore, we expect to see if not a new engine option, then a nice power boost of the current engine.
Of course, we count on a new 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid as well. There is no doubt that the new model will use the same system as the new RAV4 Hybrid. It features a system that is based on a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and delivers around 220 horsepower. It’s not some spectacular amount of power but on the other side, you may count on impressive fuel economy. It should go around 40 mpg in a combined drive, which are impressive numbers for a compact SUV.
2021 Lexus NX Release Date and Price
The 2021 Lexus NX redesign should happen by the end of the next year, according to the latest reports. When it comes to the price, the current model starts at around 37.000 dollars and we don’t expect bigger changes in the future.
