Years of speculations and the famous SUV is finally coming back. According to the official reports, the comeback model will hit the market in the next year, as the 2021 Ford Bronco. This will be the first time to see this nameplate in use since 1996 when the famous model was discontinued after three decades of production. Therefore, expectations from the new models are huge. Despite the popularity of crossover, there is still a big demand for body-on-frame SUVs. The choice for those drivers who don’t want something too big isn’t that great.
Practically, there are only two models in the offer – Jeep Wrangler and Toyota 4Runner. So, Ford sees this a perfect opportunity and the 2021 Ford Bronco seems like a perfect solution to fill the gap in the offer of mid-size SUVs. The new model will hit the market sometime in the next year but we are pretty sure it will have a premiere pretty soon, maybe even at the Detroit Auto Show.
2021 Ford Bronco Platform
Without any doubt, this is one of the most important aspects of the new model. A good thing to know is that this will be a real body-on-frame SUV. Fortunately, Ford already has a perfect architecture for this occasion, so big investments in development weren’t necessary. Of course, we are talking about the same T6 platform that underprints the current-generation Ranger pickup, which recently came back to North America. Still, keep in mind that this platform has been in use for almost a decade, so certain modifications were required.
So, the new 2021 Ford Bronco will borrow many design solutions and technologies from the F-150. This particularly refers to the use of lightweight materials like HSS and aluminum, which were some of the most revolutionary novelties that came with the current generation of the worlds most popular truck. In any case, numbers in terms of 2021 Ford Bronco towing capacity should be pretty amazing.
Styling
The company still keeps the styling of this SUV as secret. So far, we haven’t seen anything except for one teaser photo. However, even this photo doesn’t show anything. It features an SUV vehicle that is completely covered. So, the only thing we can actually see is a super boxy contour, which suggests that the 2021 Ford Bronco will feature a pretty rugged design, with a rectangular shape and non-compromised off-road stance. However, many things are still unclear.
First of all, we don’t have any information about dimensions, while the front face is still a mystery. Considering the model’s iconic status, most car enthusiasts would probably expect to see a lot of distinctive details. However, it is still early to talk about these things. On the other side, we are pretty sure that the new model will come with two body styles in the offer. Just like the Wrangler, the new Bronco should also come in a smaller, two-door variant. Some reports even suggest 2021 Ford Bronco Convertible, but take this with a reserve.
Interior
While some of the exterior styling cues can be anticipated, the interior design of this model is a complete mystery. Still, we know for sure it will be significantly different compared to Ranger. Simply, the mid-size truck has been designed for the Australian market and it looks way too blend to be found in an SUV that is primarily designed in North America.
Therefore, we have no doubt that the 2021 Ford Bronco interior will look far more opulent, with finer materials, more attractive dashboard design etc. Also, we count on a full load of tech goodies and advanced drive-assist features. As we already mentioned, two body styles are about to come. So, we expect different specs in terms of interior space, legroom, cargo volume etc.
2021 Ford Bronco Engines
At this point, we know for sure that the base 2021 Ford Bronco will come with a familiar 2.3-liter turbo-four engine, which is good for about 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. It will come in pair with a new 10-speed automatic gearbox. Other than this unit, there is a big chance to see a 2.7-liter V6, with a max output around 325 horsepower. Some reports also suggest a V8 version. Most likely, this one would come with a well-known 5.0-liter Coyote, though some reports even include a possibility to see a completely new 4.8-liter V8, which has been rumored.
Most experts also expect to see 2021 Ford Bronco Diesel version in the offer. This one would feature Ford’s familiar 3.0-liter V6 engine, which is good for about 250 horses and 440 lb-ft of torque. Finally, we should see some form of electrification in the near future. However, such version probably won’t be ready for the initial launch.
2021 Ford Bronco Release Date and Price
When it comes to 2021 Ford Bronco release date, we presume that the new model will hit the market sometime in the second half of the next year. However, it won’t be surprising if we see some kind of a prototype soon, maybe even at the Detroit Auto Show. When it comes to the price, we presume that base models will go somewhere between 30.000 and 35.000 dollars.
I’m interested in the new Bronco.
