2021 Dodge Durango redesign

The current generation of this SUV has been around for a way too long time, so it’s no wonder many reports are suggesting 2021 Dodge Durango redesign. According to the latest reports, this is going to happen. Moreover, we are about to see some pretty radical changes. This is going to be much more than just a typical redesign. The next-generation Durango is coming back to its roots, as it’s going to ride on a truck-based, body-on-frame platform once again. Once again, this will be a genuine SUV. Not only that, but it will also get notably bigger and become a real full-size SUV, which will compete with models like Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition etc. More precise details about the new model are still unavailable, but we definitely have big expectations from it. According to some estimations, it will hit the market in the third quarter of the next year.

The current generation of this SUV has a lot in common with the Grand Cherokee. The two models use the same platform and share most of the mechanics. However, the two models will go in separate ways soon. While the Grand Cherokee is about to adopt Alfa Romeo’s platform and become much sportier, the 2021 Dodge Durango redesign will bring this model to its roots. Once again, it will ride on a traditional body-on-frame platform, just like it was the case with the first and second generations of this nameplate.

Speaking of the platform, there is no doubt the new model will use the same architecture as the recently redesigned Ram 1500. This also means the new model will grow into a full-size SUV. The new model will share a lot with the new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, which are coming back after decades of hiatus.

Exterior

One of the things that come to mind about the 2021 Dodge Durango is the exterior details. At this point, we can only speculate. The fact is that Dodge hasn’t launched a new model for years and that it desperately needs a new design language. A scenario that sounds most likely is to see similar aesthetical approach to the new Ram 1500. The new Durango would feature the same front end, which finally comes without recognizable crosshair grille. Of course, the rest of the SUV would come in a typical wagon-like manner. Still, we will have to see some of the 2021 Dodge Durango spy photos first to find out more details about the upcoming model. In terms of dimensions, we expect a similar size to the new Wagoneer. The two models will probably feature the same wheelbase, while differences in overall size seem possible.

Interior

Once again, it is too early for more specific details. At this point, we can only speculate about the most general things. The first thing that comes to mind is cabin size. Without any doubt, this will be a three-row SUV, with max seating capacity for 8 passengers. We count on a generous cargo area too. When it comes to the overall cabin layout, we presume it will have a lot in common with the new Ram 1500. The truck features by far the most stylish cabin in the class, so we feel there is really no need for bigger modifications inside the new 2021 Dodge Durango. Count on the same dashboard, with same premium-quality materials and tons of latest tech features.

2021 Dodge Durango Engines

We presume that the 2021 Dodge Durango will come with the same engines in the offer as its truck sibling. Therefore, base versions should feature a well-known 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which delivers around 305 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Of course, V8 engines will be in the offer as well. Count on a well-known 5.7-liter Hemi, which features a max output of around 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Also, we count on a diesel version in the offer. That should be a familiar 3.0-liter inline-six, the same one that powers the current-generation Grand Cherokee.

Is there a chance to see SRT version once again?

Yes, definitely. The new SUV will definitely be available in a hi-performance version. Most likely it will come as the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT. At this point, we can’t talk about spect, though most experts believe the new model would keep the same 6.4-liter V8, of course, with notable power boost. The current version features a max output of around 475 horsepower.

2021 Dodge Durango Release Date and Price

Most experts suggest the third quarter of the year, though it would be surprised to see a premiere a little bit earlier, at some of the major car shows. When it comes to the price, we presume that base versions would go somewhere between 45.000 and 50.000 dollars.
