Chevy is currently in a process of renewing SUV lineup and 2021 Chevy Traverse is another model that is about to come with novelties. Considering that the current generation has been around for just a couple of years, we won’t see a complete redesign but rather a mid-cycle refresh. We count that this is going to be a typical facelift. At this point, we know for sure that a fine amount of visual updates is about to come. The rest of the vehicle is still a mystery. Of course, everyone expects to see a longer list of standard equipment.
On the other side, we don’t expect to see bigger changes in terms of powertrain. The 2021 Chevy Traverse should continue with familiar powertrain options. Also, we won’t be surprised if the company decides to introduce some brand-new safety and driver-assist systems. Also, expect to see 2021 Chevy Traverse release date scheduled for a little bit earlier than usual.
2021 Chevy Traverse Facelift
The 2021 Chevy Traverse facelift is about to bring a fine portion of changes. At this point, we know for sure that this update is about to bring a lot of changes in terms of the styling. On the other side, the mechanical aspect of the crossover definitely won’t change. Count on the same overall design, based on a familiar C1 platform. More precisely, on its stretched version.
The styling updates are about to be quite massive. The testing model has been spotted and it wears camouflage on both ends of the vehicle. Of course, most novelties are expected at the front. We presume that the 2021 Chevy Traverse facelift will include new headlights, new grille and new bumper, all designed in the way to closely resemble the new Blazer, which established the brand’s new design language.
A couple of changes are expected at the rear end as well. Details are still unavailable, but we presume we are about to see new taillights, new rear bumper and maybe a couple of tweaks to the tailgate.
Details about the interior changes are still unavailable, but we presume that 2021 Chevy Traverse update won’t bring too many of them. We expect to see the same interior layout, which offers a pretty impressive amount of space. With over 120 inches in wheelbase, it’s no wonder that this crossover offers plenty of space in all three rows. Even the third row is suitable for adults, which isn’t the case with most rivals.
The number of models that can compare with Traverse in terms of space is pretty small. For example, there is the Honda Pilot, one of the rare models that can compare in terms of interior and cargo space. It is also more upscale, though Chevy offers much better infotainment system.
Of course, this is the aspect where we expect to see a lot of novelties, particularly in terms of tech features. Still, we have to say that the current model is already pretty solid in this aspect. It comes standard with things like 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth, six USB ports etc. Higher trims also offer goodies like a bigger 8-inch touchscreen, wireless device charging, a 10-speaker Bose audio system, satellite radio, a rear-seat entertainment system etc. Naturally, some of these things should become standard after the update.
Another aspect where we expect a lot of improvement is safety. Currently, base models aren’t equipped with too many safety features. Practically, the list starts and ends with a rearview camera. On the other side, the list of available is pretty long and some of the features should become standard. Some of the potential candidates are systems like surround-vision camera, forward collision warning, forward automatic braking, front pedestrian braking, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, rear cross traffic alert etc.
2021 Chevy Traverse Engines
We don’t believe that the 2021 Chevy Traverse engine lineup will bring any change. We count on two familiar powertrain options in the offer, which includes two familiar units. Base models feature a well-known 3.6-liter V6 engine, which delivers around 310 horsepower. The RS trim level comes with a smaller and more efficient turbo-four, which is good for about 260 horsepower. Both engines are equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
When it comes to the fuel economy, the Traverse is pretty average. The base V6 returns around 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, while the optional turbo-four is good for about 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
2021 Chevy Traverse Release Date and Price
Mid-cycle updates usually mean earlier launch dates, so we expect that the new model will hit the market sometime in the third quarter of the next year. On the other side, we are pretty sure that 2021 Chevy Traverse price won’t change too much. The current model starts at around 30.000 dollars.
