2021 Chevy Suburban Redesign, Changes, Diesel
The iconic nameplate has been around since the early days of the automotive industry and still is one of the major players in the segment of full-size SUVs. For the next year, we have pretty big expectations, as the 2021 Chevy Suburban is about to receive a complete overhaul. If you look at the current model’s age, it doesn’t seem that old. However, it definitely needs improvements, especially if we consider that the new generation of the Ford Expedition is absolutely amazing. Therefore, the next year will bring a lot of interesting novelties, particularly in terms of new design solutions, new technologies etc.
A new platform, exterior and interior design, and hi-tech goodies are just some of the novelties that are about to come. The new model is under development and we expect it will hit the market in the next year. Latest reports suggest 2021 Chevy Suburban release date for the third quarter of next year.
2021 Chevy Suburban Redesign
You may presume a large portion of new design solutions that will find a place in the next generation of this iconic SUV. Just like previous generations, the new one will also share most of its parts with the upcoming Tahoe. Practically, the only major difference between these two models is in wheelbase. The Suburban is a stretched version, with more space on the inside and that will remain in the new model as well. Naturally, the 2021 Chevy Suburban redesign means switching to a new T1 platform, its stretched version to be more precise. It will bring various improvements, starting from notable weight savings.
Also, one of the big novelties of the new Suburban will be an independent rear suspension. This will be a standard feature, most likely, as it will bring significant improvements in terms of comfort and overall ride quality. This is particularly important because the ride in the current model can be pretty firm sometimes.
What will the 2021 Chevy Suburban look like?
Of course, one of the things that seem very interesting is to see how the new model is going to look like. The outgoing model isn’t particularly attractive when it comes to the exterior design. Therefore, we expect big improvements in the new version. Most likely, it will share design language with the new Silverado. This should include all those fancy details as well, starting from air curtains and all other things that characterize the new truck.
Of course, we count on a couple of distinctive details at front, while some reports even suggest a front that features a more massive, chrome grille, something similar to a new High Country HD models. On the other side, the overall shape should remain pretty much the same. We count on a typical wagon body style, which will provide plenty of interior space, for both passengers and cargo.
The interior of the new Silverado has been criticized a lot for remaining practically the same as in the current generation. Therefore, we believe that GM designers will put much more effort in this case and that we are about to see a significantly changed cabin. At this point, it is still early to talk about details, but we count on more attractive dashboard design, with finer materials and better aesthetics.
Also, we expect that Chevy will solve some of the issues that characterize the current model. First of all, there is a third-row issue. The current model isn’t the most generous in terms of legroom, despite that we are talking about one of the biggest vehicles on the market. Therefore, we count on improvements in the 2021 Chevy Suburban, which should be more comfortable for all passengers.
We could see big novelties under the hood as well. The current model comes with two familiar V8 engines in the offer and both of them should carry one. The first one is a 5.3-liter unit with around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. A bigger 6.2-liter V8 delivers 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Both units should come with a new 10-speed automatic gearbox.
Besides two familiar engines, we count on a couple of novelties as well. There is a big chance to see a new turbo-four in the offer, reserved for base models. This unit delivers around 310 hp and 348 lb-ft of torque. Finally, many reports suggest 2021 Chevy Suburban Diesel. Of course, this model would feature the same inline-six turbodiesel that powers new Silverado and delivers around 277 horsepower.
2021 Chevy Suburban Release Date and Price
The new 2021 Chevy Suburban could have a premiere already in the first half of next year. However, it probably won’t hit the market before the third quarter. When it comes to the price, the current model starts at around 52.000 dollars and we don’t expect significant changes in the future. Naturally, the Ford Expedition XL will remain a key rival.
