The current generation of this compact luxury crossover has been around for a couple of years. So, it’s time for updates. According to the latest reports, we won’t see redesign before 2023-year model, so this seems like a perfect time for a mid-cycle refresh. For this occasion, the company will introduce a couple of interesting novelties. Of course, the focus will be on the styling. The testing model has been spotted in China and it wears camouflage on both ends, so it’s not hard to locate areas that are about to receive novelties. Besides visual updates, we expect to see novelties in terms of standard features, particularly in terms of the advanced safety system and driver aids. On the other side, the engine lineup will probably remain the same. All in all, 2021 Cadillac XT5 facelift will bring a fine amoung of interesting novelties, and the new model should arrive in North America next year.
2021 Cadillac XT5 Design
The upcoming update will bring a lot of novelties, but the overall design will remain the same. It will continue to ride on a familiar C1 platform and share many of its mechanical parts with models like Chevy Blazer and GMC Acadia. On the other side, it will also continue with a pretty exclusive styling, which will come with several novelties for this occasion. As you may presume, most of the changes will come at the front end.
The testing model still wears camouflage and it’s easy to see that key modifications will be made on parts like front fascia, grille, bumper etc. Most likely, headlights will be changes as well and we are about to see an integrated LED stripe, something similar to the current XT4 model. The rear end could come with a couple of novelties too. Of course, the 2021 Cadillac XT5 refresh will also bring those common changes, such as new color options, wheels and similar things.
Most likely, the interior design won’t change too much. A couple of novelties on the 2021 Cadillac XT5 dashboard are possible, but the overall layout will definitely remain the same. This isn’t a bad thing at all, considering that the current model already features pretty impressive interior quality. Most surfaces feature hi-end quality materials, while wood accents are present as well. Besides great quality, this cabin offers great functionality too.
Both rows of seats are pretty generous in terms of leg and headroom. The front row is particularly comfortable, as seats are massive and very supportive. The 2021 Cadillac XT5 cargo space will remain pretty respectable. You can count on about 30 cubic feet behind rear seats and 63 cubic feet of total cargo volume. That are quite solid numbers for the class.
Of course, this update is about to bring a lot of novelties in terms of standard equipment. Still, keep in mind that the current model is already pretty impressive in this aspect, so don’t expect miracles. The current model comes standard with power-adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, sliding and reclining rear seats etc. Also, there are tech goodies like 8-inch touch screen, voice recognition, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, HD Radio, Bluetooth, four USB ports, an eight-speaker Bose audio system and many more. For this update, some of the optional features will definitely become standard. The list of potential candidates is pretty long.
On the other side, we count on much more standard safety features in the offer, as the current model comes standard only with a rearview camera and parking sensors. The list should be significantly expanded and we could also see the company’s advanced Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system in the offer.
2021 Cadillac XT5 Engines
When it comes to powertrain, we expect two engines in the offer. According to the latest reports, a new version of the 2.0-liter turbo-four engine is about to come. It will feature a max output of 237 horsepower, which is less compared to the current engine. However, the new unit is characterized by a much better fuel economy. A well-known 3.6-liter V6 engine will remain the same.
This unit is good for about 310 horsepower. Both engines should come with a new 9-speed transmission, which will replace the current 8-speed gearbox. 2WD models are standard, but 2021 Cadillac XT5 all-wheel-drive versions will be in the offer as well.
2021 Cadillac XT5 Release Date and Price
This update will bring a lot of novelties, so we presume that the launch date will be scheduled for a little bit earlier date than usual. On the other side, we don’t expect to see bigger changes in terms of price. Base models should go around 41.600 dollars, while the 2021 Cadillac XT5 AWD price is for about 3.000 dollars higher. The competition in the segment is pretty tough. Some of the rivals are models like Lincoln Nautilus, Infiniti QX60, etc.
