The next generation of the luxury SUV is on its way and the latest reports suggest we may once again see its truck version, in the form of 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT. You probably remember that GM already tried with such a design approach two times. Two generations of the famous SUV were available in truck layouts as well, but both versions weren’t really too successful. Sales were slow and the company decided to discontinue this model several years ago.

However, things are changing on the market these days, so there’s a chance to see 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT as well. However, these are just rumors, and we are pretty sure that Cadilac can’t afford another disaster with this model.

2021 Cadillac Escalade Redesign

While we are speculating about the 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT comeback, we should mention that the new generation of the classic Escalade SUV is on its way. It is about to hit the market in the next year and we count on significant improvements with this redesign.

First of all, the new model will get a new platform, called T1. It is the same architecture that underprints new Silverado and will be used for new Suburban and Tahoe models. Therefore, we may count on similar kinds of improvements with this one. The first thing that comes to mind is weight reduction, as the new model is expected to save about 300 pounds. Also, we expect that independent rear suspension will be a standard feature, which will definitely have a huge impact on the overall ride quality.

2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT Styling and Interior

Of course, the upcoming redesign will bring new aesthetics as well. We count that the new model will come with the styling that takes a lot of inspiration from the Escala concept. This includes a large and prominent shield-like grille, as well as new, pretty narrow headlights. Naturally, the overall shape should remain pretty similar, though the latest reports are suggesting a little bit longer wheelbase in the standard model.

Novelties are expected on the inside as well. Naturally, we count on improved interior quality, new materials and loads of latest tech features. The new model should also come with notable improvement in terms of legroom, especially when it comes to the third row.

What would 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT look like?

When it comes to the 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT, we presume that the new version will ride on the stretched version of the platform, the same one that is used for the Suburban, Yukon XL etc. This means 130+ inches in wheelbase, which should be more than enough to provide two spacious rows of seats, as well as decent bed capacity. In terms of the aesthetics, the front and should be identical to the new SUV, as well as the part that goes all-away up to the second row of seats. This is where the2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT will turn into a pickup truck. The same thing goes for interior design.

Engines

We have no doubt that the 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT would feature the same engines as the standard SUV model. This would mean a well-known 6.2-liter V8 that comes in pair with a new 10-speed automatic gearbox. The engine delivers around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Some reports also suggest we could see a performance version of the new model, with the supercharged version of this V8 engine. Such a unit can be found in Camaro and it delivers around 650 horsepower.

Finally, many reports are suggesting Cadillac’s new 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8. This engine debuted recently and we presume the max output would go around 550 horsepower.

2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT Won’t Come!?

Rumors and reports about the 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT are numerous. However, we are pretty sure that the new version of this pickup won’t happen. First of all, the company is still quiet on this matter. Also, there’s no reason why GM would risk this model, considering that the previous two versions were quite unsuccessful. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the 2021 Cadillac Escalade will arrive only as an SUV.

2021 Cadillac Escalade Release Date

Unlike the pickup truck version, the standard 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT is about to hit the market next year. The testing model has been around for a while and it looks like it will hit the market in the third quarter of next year. As we already mentioned, it will come with loads of novelties but we don’t expect bigger changes in price, at least when it comes to base versions, which currently go around 75.000 dollars.
