The new generation of Ram HD models came last year, including a hi-performance Power Wagon version. Normally, we wouldn’t expect bigger changes for the second production year. Still, the latest reports are suggesting some novelties for the next year. Actually, most of the things will remain the same. However, it looks like we are about to see big novelties under the hood, as the 2020 Ram Power Wagon Diesel has been rumored.
Currently, this model is available with Hemi V8 engine only, and this would be a great alternative for those who, besides great off-road capabilities, also want great towing capacity. The new version still waits for the official confirmation, so take its arrival with a reserve. Other than a new engine, the 2020 Ram Power Wagon should continue in the same way. So, 2020 Ram Power Wagon release date should be scheduled for the end of the year.
2020 Ram Power Wagon Diesel
The only major novelty that is expected for the next year is a new powertrain option. The current model comes with a well-known 6.4-liter V8 under the hood. It delivers around 410 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. According to latest rumors, the 2020 Ram Power Wagon will come in a diesel version as well. Of course, we count on the same 6.7-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel, which delivers around 370 horses and 850 pound-feet of torque. Unlike the gasoline engine, which comes with 8-speed automatic transmission, this engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. There is no need to talk about benefits from this engine.
Of course, this version would be a little bit slower, but also far more efficient. Count on much higher mpg ratings in this case. Another hugely important thing to mention is towing capacity. We presume that the 2020 Ram Power Wagon towing capacity would go over 16.000 pounds.
2020 Ram Power Wagon Specs
This is an off-road version of Ram 2500, practically the only performance HD truck on the market. It may not be as capable as light-duty Ford Raptor or Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, but still delivers some pretty strong off-road performances. After all, there is a full load of mechanical upgrades.
All-terrain tires, off-road shock absorbers, tow hooks, skid plates, a manual transfer case, electronically locking front and rear differentials with a 4.10 axle ratio, hill descent control, an integrated front winch, and a front stabilizer bar – this list makes it clear that we are talking about one serious performer.
Styling and Interior Design
This trim level doesn’t offer the same level of customization as the rest of the lineup. There is just one body style in the offer, a crew cab layout combined with a short cargo bed. In terms of aesthetics, you can notice distinctive rims which, along with all-terrain tires make an obvious departure from the rest of the lineup. Also, the grille is completely made from black plastics, which can be found on fender flares, bumpers and many other parts as well. Of course, the famous graphics are also there.
As we’ve just mentioned, this model comes exclusively in a crew cab layout. Also, the cabin features a couple of exclusive details, including unique leather upholstery, with “Power Wagon” stitching, as well as badges all around the cabin. The cabin looks pretty luxurious and you can even get an optional 12-inch touchscreen. It sits up to six passengers and also comes with features like 17-speaker audio system, several advanced safety systems, 360-degree camera and much more.
2020 Ram Power Wagon Release Date and Price
No matter if the new 2020 Ram Power Wagon Diesel arrives or not, we are pretty sure that all Power Wagon versions will hit the market late in the year.
When it comes to the 2020 Ram Power Wagon price, the current model goes around 55.000 dollars. We don’t expect bigger changes for the next year.
Power Wagon Package
If you don’t care too much about aesthetics and want just great off-road performances, there is a cheaper way to get them. Instead of such a huge amount of money, you can get a Power Wagon package, which is available in the base Tradesman trim level. This package includes pretty much all mechanical upgrades from the Power Wagon. On the other side, you won’t find any of these black plastic parts or famous graphics. Moreover, the list of standard equipment is also very basic, like on regular Tradesman.
Practically, the list of standard equipment includes things like 17-inch steel wheels, a locking tailgate, air conditioning, a 40/20/40-split front bench, a tilt-only steering wheel, a 3.5-inch driver information display, vinyl upholstery etc. Speaking of tech goodies, you can count on a small 5.0-inch touchscreen, as well as on a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, a USB port etc. The list may seem short to some, but most truck enthusiasts actually like the fact that things are so simple in this case.
