From the company says that this may be the first heavy-duty ever to break the 1,000 pound-feet sound barrier. To compare, Ford’s turbocharged 6.7-liter V8 engine produces 450 hp and 935 lb-ft of torque at 1,800 rpm.
Upcoming Ram 3500 will also offer a Cummins turbocharged 6.7-liter inline-six diesel powertrain. This unit is capable of producing 370 hp at 2,800 rpm and 850 lb-ft of torque at 1,700 rpm. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard with these two diesel engines. However, if you don’t want a diesel unit, the standard powertrain is a gasoline 6.4-liter Hemi V8. This drivetrain delivers 410 hp at 5,600 rpm and 429 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. The Hemi V8 engine is connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2020 Ram 3500 is set to tow up to 35,100 pounds and the payload capacity is 7,680 pounds.
