After the recent refresh, we expect from the upcoming model to carry on in the same way. Although there were reports about the 2020 Mazda CX-3 redesign, the Japanese carmaker offered a completely new model instead, called the CX-30. It is slightly bigger and comes with some nice tech updates. However, that definitely doesn’t mean the end of the CX-3. It will continue to be an entry-level crossover in the company’s lineup and the next year won’t bring any notable changes.
The upcoming model will carry on in the same way. If we consider that the current generation has been around for a little bit more than three years, as well as the fact that the recent update has brought a couple of styling updates, as well as new features, there is no doubt that the current model is capable of being competitive for a couple of more years. Therefore, expect to see 2020 Mazda CX-3 release date scheduled for late 2019.
2020 Mazda CX-3 Design
In terms of base design characteristics, everything seems pretty familiar on this small crossover. Despite there are some younger competitors, the 2020 Mazda CX-3 will continue to be one of the most stylish models in the segment, thanks to the brands famous KODO Soul of Motion design language. It’s not the latest iteration of the styling philosophy, but with lots of clean lines and shapes, there is no doubt that the current model will remain attractive for a long time. Additionally, it received a mild update last year and came with a couple of new details, so aesthetics definitely aren’t a concern of this model.
Once again, we don’t expect to see any notable changes for the next year. This crossover features one of the nicest cabins in the class. Typically for Mazda, the dashboard is very stylish, while the whole cabin features hi-quality materials, almost on par with premium brands.
On the other side, a big complaint goes for the interior space, more precisely to the rear bench. Mazda models are generally known for cabins that are smaller than average, and you could imagine how small that is in the segment of the subcompact crossover. Therefore, the company recently introduced an all-new model called the 2020 Mazda CX-30, which comes with a longer wheelbase and more space on the inside.
Also, the CX-3 features pretty small cargo area. This crossover may be stylish but definitely isn’t very practical. You can count on just about 12.5 cubic feet behind rear seats, while the overall cargo capacity goes around 44.5 cubic feet. Compared to the competition, these are way below-average ratings.
We don’t expect to see too many novelties in terms of features for the next year. The 2020 Mazda CX-3 will continue with three familiar trim levels in the offer.
Base Sport models are already equipped pretty well. They come with 16-inch alloy wheels, a roof spoiler, remote keyless entry, while the notable interior features are things like a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, two USB ports, and a six-speaker audio system. In terms of safety, you can count on a rearview camera, forward collision warning with automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
The Touring trim adds several notable upgrades. Some of the highlights are things like 18-inch wheels, heated mirrors, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, piano black exterior trim, keyless entry and ignition etc. On the inside, you get standard simulated leather upholstery, heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control etc.
The range-topping Grand Touring adds adaptive headlights, a sunroof, LED exterior lighting, chrome exterior trim etc. On the inside, you get leather upholstery, paddle shifters, Bose audio system, navigation, satellite radio etc. In terms of safety, you can count on traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning etc.
2020 Mazda CX-3 Engine
The recent update has brought a slight power boost. So, a familiar 2.0-liter engine now delivers around 150 horsepower 146 pound-feet of torque. Of course, it comes with the same 6-speed automatic transmission, which ensures a pretty smooth ride. Moreover, the complete driving experience with this crossover is amazing. The engine ensures decent dynamics, while the handling is the best in class.
Another great thing about this crossover is a pretty impressive fuel economy. You can count on about 29 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. Those are some of the best ratings in the class.
2020 Mazda CX-3 Release Date and Price
Since there are no bigger changes to come, the 2020 Mazda CX-3 should hit the market sometime late in the year. Also, we don’t expect to see bigger changes in terms of the 2020 Mazda CX-3 price. Base models will go around 20.500 dollars. The competition in the segment is pretty tough. Some of the rivals are models like Hyundai Kona, Honda HR-V, Toyota C-HR etc.
