Despite being around for more than a decade, the current generation of this luxury full-size SUV is still quite competitive in the segment. There are several reasons for that, starting from excellent off-road capabilities, a long list of standard equipment and class-leading reliability. Therefore, the Japanese carmaker doesn’t rush with the new model. The 2020 Lexus LX 570 redesign may be rumored, but it definitely won’t happen. We are about to see a familiar design, characterize by the brand’s recognizable design language and Land Cruiser-based mechanics. Also, there should be too many additions to the list of standard equipment, although some are possible.
The powertrain department will also remain the same, although some reports were suggesting 2020 Lexus LX 570 hybrid version come. That definitely won’t happen before the redesign, so a well-known V8 will remain the only powertrain in the offer. We expect from it to arrive sometime late in the year.
2020 Lexus LX 570 Design
In terms of base design characteristics, the 2020 Lexus LX 570 definitely won’t change. Despite being around for more than a decade, the current generation hasn’t changed too much for all these years. Mechanically, this SUV is pretty much the same as the Land Cruiser, so it’s no wonder that off-road capabilities and reliability are among the bests in the class. In terms of proportions, the only major difference is in overhangs. Thanks to different bumpers, the LX features a little bit longer overhangs, so the Land Cruiser has a little bit more potential for the off-road drive. However, that definitely doesn’t mean that the 2020 Lexus LX 570 won’t be capable. Moreover, it will remain one of the class leaders. Some reports are suggesting certain modifications for the next year, including new suspension components. However, that probably won’t happen.
In terms of the styling, we don’t expect to see any change before the redesign. The upcoming model will continue with a familiar design, which follows the brand’s famous spindle grille design language and other details that characterize other Lexus models.
Of course, the 2020 Lexus LX 570 interior won’t change either. We are about to see a familiar design which, despite the age, still looks pretty classy. All materials feature amazing quality, while the dashboard still looks very attractive, despite the lack of some modern tech features. For the next year, one of the most interesting additions will be a two-row version. A three-row version will continue in the same way. Therefore, count on the very spacious and comfortable first and second row. On the other side, the rear seat is as comfortable as you would expect from a full-size SUV. When it comes to the cargo area, the volume is quite decent, but a big drawback is a fact that rear seats fold to the side.
Just like for the current model, the 2020 Lexus LX 570 price will be notably higher compared to base prices of the rivals. The main reason lays in the fact that even the most basic version comes with a full load of standard equipment. For example, all models come standard with tech goodies like 12.3-inch display, Lexus’ Remote Touch controller, navigation, a nine-speaker audio system, satellite radio, USB ports, Bluetooth etc. Therefore, there aren’t many options in the offer, so some of the highlights are things like rear-seat entertainment system, a 19-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, wireless smartphone charging, and a cooled center console.
This SUV is very impressive when it comes to standard safety features. Among standard features, you can count on things like a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning with automatic braking. Seems pretty impressive, considering the model’s age.
2020 Lexus LX 570 Engine
Things under the hood are about to remain the same. The 2020 Lexus LX 570 will continue with a well-known 5.7-liter V8. It is good for about 383 horsepower and 403 pound-feet of torque and comes paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. With such amount of power, you can count on pretty solid performances. On the other side, fuel economy isn’t that good. You can count on just 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway, which are some of the lowest ratings in the class. Still, the engine may be thirsty but offers superb reliability. According to J.D. Power, the LX is the most reliable model in the class, along with the Land Cruiser.
2020 Lexus LX 570 Release Date and Price
Considering that there aren’t bigger changes to come for the next year, the 2020 Lexus LX 570 release date should be scheduled for the end of the year. When it comes to the price, base models will go around 86.000 dollars.
