The Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V recently announced the official launching of brand-new 2020 Jeep Wagoneer. Still, there’s a veil of mystery surrounding this popular vehicle. The customers want to know more details about performances and the general specs of this SUV. Fact is, very little we heard regarding this topic.
The several exterior changes are visible on the spy shots, and all of them look very similar to the Grand Cherokee. The company planning to move Dodge Durango to the new Bof platform, and it will create more room for the Wagoneer. Under the hood, we expect that the base model will use a 5.7 V8 engine or 6.4-liter Hemi powertrain.
2020 Jeep Wagoneer Spy Shots
The concept of new Wagoneer is finally finished. We can expect the prototypes very soon on the streets, so the engineers can see them in action. However, the concept of the SUV is not ready yet. As we can see from the pictures, the front fascia of 2020 Jeep Wagoneer will be quite similar to the present Grand Cherokee. The new dynamic LED headlights are perfectly positioned and really well designed to give the bolder overall appearance. Also, some design ideas are borrowed from the Yuntu concept. That is especially noticeable in using slim light tapes and details.
The well-known seven-slot grille will be the focal point of the front part, as usual. Moreover, the slit below the grille also visually reminds us of Grand Cherokee. Still, the overall look and shapes emphatically confirm that this vehicle is not the next-gen mid-size model. We can notice two massive towing eyes, a little suggestion that this SUV will be able to do some off-road maneuvres as well. At the rear side, you’ll find a set of thin brake lights that emphasize the large dimensions of Wagoneer. The thick rear bumper and a pair of massive square exhausts also remind of those on the Grand Cherokee.
Jeep Wagoneer Dimensions
The upcoming 2020 Jeep Wagoneer will be significantly longer than the Grand Cherokee. However, from the leaked pictures we can’t give you the exact dimensions of the new model. We can only assume the size of 2020 Jeep Wagoneer by comparing it to the dimensions of its sibling. The Grand Cherokee comes 190 inches long with a wheelbase length 115 inches. The full-size vehicle will probably add around 10 inches to this size.
The Wagoneer may be logy and massive, but the new SUV will use more lightweight materials. The engineers will add a lot of aluminium in the body to reduce weight, so the Wagoneer can keep its manoeuvring skills. Speaking of manoeuvring, the new model will also get improved handling. With the weight reduction and better handling, this SUV will definitely come with better driving impression and overall performances.
Jeep Grand Wagoneer
In addition to the standard model, the company will present the deluxe version of 2020 Jeep Wagoneer – Grand Wagoneer. We already mentioned earlier that these two models will come in different sizes. The Grand, as the name says, is the bigger of the two siblings. It will have extended wheelbase with harm handling, but that will not affect the cargo space nor the passenger’s comfort. The extended wheelbase isn’t exactly the new thing in the automotive world.
Other companies also come with their extended body SUVs – Lincoln Navigator L or Cadillac Escalade. Furthermore, Grand Wagoneer will include more equipment and technology upgrades. With the information we have regarding the level of interior luxury and features, it should be equally elegant as Range Rover. In any case, we should start saving money right about now. If the calculations are true, the new Grand Wagoneer will have a starting price of around $150,000.
In the recent period, we collected pieces of information from different sources, to find out what type of engine will be under the hood of new 2020 Jeep Wagoneer. The FCA announced that they planning development of the brand-new V6 powertrain. Sure, the full-size SUV will need a lot of power. However, according to the company sources, the V6 will be as powerful as a V8 Hemi engine. Another option is a 6.4-liter Hemi engine. That seems to be a little too powerful for the entry-level version.
So, we expect that the Grand Cherokee will use this powertrain, while the base version will go on with a 5.7-liter V8. This engine is capable to produce 360 hp with 390 lb-ft of twist. To sum up, the new Wagoneer will be a very forceful vehicle and the towing capacity is expected to be above 8,000 pounds. The supercharged Hellcat engine is not an option for the moment. But, we expect that it will be included in the future.
Release Date and Price
Lately, the FCA reveal their four-year plan to the automotive world. According to their schedule, the new Wagoner will definitely be ready by 2022. Taking into account that the prototypes are already on the streets, we expect that the new model will be available in the showrooms next season. However, the precise release date is not yet confirmed. We expect that the perfect scene for the debut of new 2020 Jeep Wagoneer will be some major auto show in the US.
The Wagoneer will be more expensive than the current Grand Cherokee. Being that, the MSRP of the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is around $45,500, we assume that new Wagoneer will cost around $55,000. Also, the Hemi engine will surely rise this price. The Grand Wagoneer with premium packages will go above $100,000.
