New 2020 Jeep Compass will fit right between its siblings – the Renegade and the larger one, Cherokee. The new Compass is a compact-crossover SUV with a look similar to the full-size Cherokee, only scaled proportionally. The new model may lack some things like fuel economy, but the Compass is capable to take you to places that other rivals, like Kia Sportage can only dream of.
The starting price of this model is under $23,000, which is more than fair for the number of unique features and options you’ll get. Moreover, like all Jeeps, the Compass is also very capable off-roader, especially the Trailhawk model. Under the hood is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, not too powerful but strong enough to get the job done. Also, the manual transmission is an option on the Sport and 4WD Latitude trims.

2020 Jeep Compass Restyling
The upcoming 2020 Jeep Compass will get a lot of changes and improvements, in terms of design and styling. The redesigned exterior now looks like a smaller version of Grand Cherokee, which is a positive step forward. One of the eye-catching elements will definitely be black, 2-tone roof, that is standard on the Trailhawk and Limited models. This feature also comes as optional for the Latitude.
Moreover, the new Compass brings a couple of hidden gems, such as rear hatch glass and more chrome on the exterior. Also, the Trailhawk models double-down on off-road toughness. The Trailhawk will get an increased ground clearance, new skidplates, stylish red tow hooks, and a blackout anti-glare hood. The new Compass should come lighter than the previous version, due to higher usage of aluminum in the built of the body. The vehicle is 174 inches long in total, with a wheelbase of 104. The height and width will remain the same – 72 and 65 inches.
Interior
In the past, the Compass had some really bad designed interiors. In the company were more focused on functionality, and less on the visual aspect of the cabin. But now, 2020 Jeep Compass will change that picture. The interior of the upcoming crossover will have a similar look and the feel you can find in the Renegade or Cherokee. We talk of course about those large round air vents, intuitive controls, and suitable knobs and buttons, in the exact position where they need to be. Furthermore, the seats are very comfortable, and rear-seat passenger can enjoy in spacious 38.3 inches of legroom. That is more space than most of the midsize sedans can offer. On top of that, the cargo space offers a great amount of room, 27 cubic feet that can be expanded to almost 60 cubic feet with the seats folded.
The standard equipment on the new Compass includes keyless entry and push-button start, a 6-speaker infotainment system with a 7-inch touch screen and a rearview camera. Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are part of the standard package as well. On the other hand, if you choose Latitude model, you’ll get more standard features like automatic headlights, cornering for lights, 17-inch wheels, and ambient interior lighting. The power adjustable driver’s seat, navigation, and additional safety systems are part of the optional packages.

2020 Jeep Compass Trailhawk
Definitely, the most exciting model of the 2020 Jeep Compass lineup will be the Trailhawk. This model is an off-road oriented crossover, with great capability, and redesigned body to match the rough terrains and surfaces. Of course, the special tunning will add suspension and shocks, to help the vehicle to go over the obstacles and barriers. One of the unique features for this model will be two hooks, on both ends of the vehicle. The Trailhawk will roll on 17-inches wheels, wrapped in all-terrain tires.
Moreover, leather seats, a huge touchscreen display, navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity are available as standard equipment. Also, an 8.4-inch Uconnect center display with a 1-year subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio will be included as well. Under the hood of the Trailhawk will be the same engine as for other models, a 2.4-liter powertrain. But, in the case of Limited and Trailhawk trims, this engine will be connected to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Specs
The 2020 Jeep Compass will offer only one engine option – a 2.4-liter powertrain that can produce 180 hp and 175 lb-ft. This engine isn’t exactly the most powerful in the class, but good enough for this type of vehicle. The 6-speed automatic transmission is standard, but for the Limited and Trailhawk model, you’ll get a new 9-speed automatic gearbox. Also, all model comes with start/stop technology that idles the powertrain when the vehicle comes to a stop.
This unit has a good power delivery, but the Compass’ weight could be a problem there. The weight of Trailhawk and 4WD trims, for example, means that the acceleration and passing power could be average, at most. Equipped with 4WS, the upcoming Compass is set to tow up to 2,000 pounds. The EPA city/highway fuel economy is 23/32 mpg for 2WD manual, 22/31 mpg ( 4WD manual, 2WD automatic) and 22/30 mpg for the 4WD automatic.
Release Date and Price
Surely, the complete refreshment of 2020 Jeep Compass will take some time. But, the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles must be aware of the competition on the already crowded market. With that in mind, we expect that the new model will be ready in the first quarter of 2020. However, if the company decided to develop a hybrid or diesel engine, that may prolong the debut for some time.
The new Compas will have four trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk, and Limited. The MSRP for the base Sport model starts around $23,000, including destination cost. But, if you want 4-wheel drive you must add $1,500 to that price. Next trim level is the Latitude, more recommendable model but also it cost over $3,500 more. The Trailhawk start just above $30,500 mark. However, with additional equipment and packages, the price of the Trailhawk and Limited Compass can go over $35,000. With these prices, the new 2020 Jeep Compass is right between subcompact SUVs like Jeep Renegade and the Honda HR-V. The Subaru Crosstek and the upcoming Nissan Rogue Sport are close with the price.
