Back in 2018, the whole automotive world was shocked when the I-Pace entered the production. Many experts thought it was impossible to happen. Also, the new vehicle will show some of the new technologies and upgrades, as well as visual changes.

The major change is a brand-new battery, that will increase the range of the forthcoming vehicle. Also, recharging will go much faster than before. The exterior gets a little bit of makeover as well. The interior will leave you speechless, with a high-level comfort, excellent balance of modern and traditional design and technical updates.

Exterior Design

The exterior of upcoming 2020 Jaguar I-Pace will have many things in common with E- and F-Pace. This model is truly a 4-door crossover, and the overall shape relates to the genre. However, if you observe carefully, you gonna notice that the I-Pace is dimension-wise very unique. This model rides on a 117.7-inch wheelbase. The wheels are pushed to the corners, with minimal front and rear overhang. The overall length of the vehicle is 184.3-inches. The hood is short, and the lowest point of the A-pillar decrease the dash-to-axle ratio. As a result, the cabin offers more space and delivers class-above interior capaciousness.

The design language of the new Jaguar I-Pace is more freely, and the overall roofline shape is more coupe-like profile than the boxy shape. preferred by more mainstream SUVs. Moreover, the new exterior design will improve the aerodynamics as well. The grille insert is curved over the top, giving a channel just under the grille. This way, the grille surround that continuous flow onto the recessed outlet on the hood. Also, the grille is belted by additional inlets. These inlets send air over the front wheels, providing a skirting effect. In profile, the coupe-like roofline gives a good contrast to a muscular lower body of the vehicle. The I-Pace will roll on 18-inchers and optional 22-inch alloys. The height of the vehicle is 61.3 inches, width 79.2 inches, and the turning circle 39.3 inches.

Interior

The interior of new 2020 Jaguar I-Pace is a very luxurious, and very well-balanced mixture of high-tech touchscreen interfaces and traditional buttons and controls. Really, the whole cabin is enhanced with a touch of luxury and quality materials, as you would expect from a brand like Jaguar. The traditional approach dominates the central dashboard, instead of the ultra-modern look you can find in Tesla Model X, BMW I5, and similar vehicles. Moreover, the cabin will definitely leave you with an impression of the high-quality interior of a luxury vehicle, that just happened to be electric. The layout is very conventional, with major gauges rounded in front of the driver, as a part of a 12.3-inch display. On the upper-trim levels, you’ll get a head-up touchscreen as well.

The center console, also known as the flight deck, is wide enough to fit in the InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, which consists of a 10-inch touchscreen attached in the dash, and the lower configurable 5-inch screen. The seating position is no different from similar crossovers. The visibility is very good, although the A-pillars may disturb your peripheral vision. The fixed panoramic glass roof adds additional light, and it comes as a part of standard equipment. Furthermore, the I-Pace cabin offers generous rear-seat legroom and headroom. Behind the back seat, you’ll find 25.3 cubic feet of load space. Also, when the rear seat is 60/40 folded down, this space expands to 51.0 cubic feet. Of course, since this is an electric car, there’s an additional front area of almost one cubic foot of space, below the decklid.

2020 Jaguar I-Pace Suspension

The suspension for forthcoming 2020 Jaguar I-Pace combine the F-Type sports car suspension bits ( double wishbone up front, with an integral link independent setup in the rear) and Land Rover’s air suspension and adjustable shocks. The adjustable shocks allow for variable ride height, and it can lower the vehicle almost a half-inch from the standard 5.6-inches ride height. Also, the vehicle can be rise up high, just enough to be able to go over 19.7 inches of water.

Moreover, the upcoming I-Pace will incorporate hill ascent and descent control, which uses the cruise control to adjust the speed on steep terrain. Furthermore, the I-Pace will offer four driving modes: the Eco, Comfort, Sport, and AdSR. AdSR means Advanced Surface Response. The AdSR automatically senses wheel slip and helps the vehicle to continue on low-grip surfaces or use braking/regenerative braking on icy or greasy roads, to help maintain control.

Engine

The 2020 Jaguar I-Pace uses the combined power of two electric motors, one on each axle. These motors separately produce 197 hp and 256 lb-ft of torque. However, the electric system allows for switching all of that output from front to rear, as well to vector that power from side to side, to the wheel with the most traction. The battery pack is 90-kWh lithium-ion, placed beneath the floor of the vehicle. The placement of the motors and battery pack provide an ideal 50:50 weight distribution. Also, the low center of gravity is ensured.

The battery pack is good for an estimated range of 240 miles per charge. From the company says that it will take about 13 hours to completely recharge the battery to 100 percent, on a 230-volt AC Level 2 charger. For 80 percent charge, it will take about 10 hours. Moreover, a 50-kWh DC high-speed system takes around 85 minutes for a full charge and about 40 to 80% level. The acceleration from 0-60 mph is 4.5 seconds and the Jaguar I-Pace can achieve a top speed of 124 mph.

According to the reports from the company, the brand-new 2020 Jaguar I-Pace will debut by the end of the year. Besides North America, the arriving model will be available in China and the UK. However, we still don’t know the exact release date for Europe. The market for electric and hybrid vehicles in China is growing rapidly, so don’t be surprised if the new I-Pace gets premiere right there.

As we all know, China is one of the worlds biggest polluter. So, the Chinese government decided to give a chance to greener sources of power, at least in the automotive industry. As for the price, new I-Pace won’t be too affordable. The base model will come with a starting price of just over $75,000. Yet, there’s more. The upper-trim, SE will cost $80,000 and the HSE $85,000. With these prices, the only rival to I-Pace will be Tesla Model X.
