The 2020 Infiniti QX70 is a luxury coupe-like mid-size SUV and after a short pause, it’s back under the spotlights. In the modern-day SUV class, we have numerous sub-classes. Surely, Nissan’s first concern was not this segment, but with the other rival companies launching such a vehicle, the famous Japanese carmaker must continue to develop its premium model. The new generation of QX70 will show numerous upgrades and improvements.
The exterior will get a serious redesign, in an attempt to attract younger buyers. On the other hand, the interior will offer a great amount of quality material and the highest comfort level you can get in this class. However, there will be only one engine option, for now, a 3.7-liter V6 powertrain. But, according to the reports, the QX70 could get a hybrid and diesel engine in the near future.

2020 Infiniti QX70 Redesign
The exterior of the upcoming 2020 Infiniti QX70 is elegant, yet bold and muscular at the same time. The company successfully resist the urge to put a gaping grill on the QX70 and maintain the unique and distinctive look. Nowadays, it’s a very popular feature among other high-end automakers, and we are glad that the QX70 didn’t follow that road. However, there’s already a QX50 model, with almost identical proportions as the previous QX70. So, the company must find a way to visually separate these two vehicles. As a result, the forthcoming mid-size QX70 will be larger than the previous version.
The new model will get a longer wheelbase and a brand-new platform. According to some rumors, the QX70 will use the same underpinnings as the current Nissan Murano. If that’s gonna be the case, we can expect the front-wheel-drive as a standard setup. The long-awaited redesign of QX70 will bring the coupe-like fascia form, with pretty neat curves and details. The front end gets a remodeled headlights and the more prominent front bumper. Also, the new Infiniti will be lighter more than 200 pounds, thanks to lightweight materials like carbon fiber, plastic, and aluminum. The previous model had 4,600 pounds. For instance, the BMW X6 is 150 pounds above this mark. With the exterior redesign and new lightweight materials incorporated in the vehicle body, Infiniti QX70 will appear more muscular than ever.

Interior
The cabin of the forthcoming 2020 Infiniti QX70 will get some changes as well. Still, don’t expect a completely new interior, or some major differences. Why change something that’s already perfect, right? A five-seat formation will remain, as well as the arrangement of control buttons. However, new QX70 will add more safety features and the newest high-tech updates. Also, everybody’s favorite feature in the whole Infiniti cabin – the analog clock, will stay in the same place as before. This analog clock gives the cabin a more traditional and elegant look, and its design is just beautiful.
The cabin of QX70 will have many things in common with the interior of QX50. The new model will borrow the shape of the air vents, as well as the design of some buttons. Moreover, there’s a possibility for a third row in the future, but the company didn’t yet confirm that idea. Due to the longer wheelbase and brand-new platform, the interior will offer more space. As we already expect from the luxury Infiniti, the comfort will be on the highest level. The additional packages, such as the Premium and Technology Package will be available as well.

Engine
The mid-size 2020 Infiniti QX70 will deliver only one engine option. In the past, this model runs with a 5.0-liter V8 powertrain. But, that engine didn’t seem much practical, and it’s not available anymore. Now, the QX70 got a smaller substitute. It’s a 3.7-liter V6 engine that produces 325 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. This unit is connected to a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
Moreover, a manual-shift mode will be available as well. And if you choose some additional feature, you can also purchase an Adaptive Shift Control. This system is very driver-adjustable, it learns the driver’s way of shifting gears and set it automatically. Also, a new platform means that the upcoming mid-size SUV will be an FWD model. However, the AWD will be optional as well.
Hybrid and Diesel Engines
Although the new 2020 Infiniti QX70 will offer only one engine, there a possibility that we will see hybrid and diesel options in the future. The QX70 may adopt a supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder powertrain from QX60. In that case, this may bring the hybrid system with an electric motor hook up with this unit. However, the QX70 would need a more potent battery pack to produce more power. With this combination, we assume that the total output will probably be somewhere around 270 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. But, the QX70 will gain more miles per gallon. Also, the hybrid system will improve the fuel economy and city consumption.
Moreover, the new generation of Nissan’s luxury mid-size SUV could deliver a diesel engine to the States. But, it’s a small chance for that to happen. Still, the SUV grow a significant fan base in Russia, where it was built. The post-Soviet countries are not so strict about pollution and emission, so Nissan could make an exception for this market. We expect that the Nissan detune the outputs, in that case, the QX70 will probably get a similar engine as Navara truck. That unit is a 2.3-liter engine that can produce 170 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. A diesel engine will definitely improve off-road capabilities of QX70, but we must wait and see it.
