The latest 2020 GMC Yukon news suggest that the new model is in the final stage of development. The next generation of the famous full-size SUV is about to come with tons of novelties. As you probably know, GM is renewing its complete lineup, which will include Yukon’s counterpart Chevy Tahoe as well. We are about to see many new design solutions and the first thing that comes to mind is the platform. Like the rest of the company’s full-size SUV and truck lineup, it will ride on a new T1 platform, which will bring improvements in various aspects, including significant weight reduction, better driving characteristics, more rigidity, improved efficiency etc.

Of course, we will see a completely new styling, as well as the new cabin and even novelties under the hood. The 2020 GMC Yukon is expected to hit the market sometime in the third quarter of the year.

2020 GMC Yukon Redesign

This redesign is about to bring lots of novelties, naturally. Of course, a new platform is one of the most interesting things about the new model. Of course, we count on a new T1 architecture, which will definitely bring various improvements. Compared to the outgoing model, the new Yukon is expected to be for about 300 pounds lighter. With such weight savings, the new model is expected to feature better driving dynamics, as well as better fuel economy and overall efficiency. In terms of size, we shouldn’t see any drastic changes. Also, count on two familiar versions when it comes to the 2020 GMC Yukon body style. Base models will come in a typical full-size SUV layout, while the Yukon XL is about to come with stretched wheelbase, with longer body and more space on the inside.

2020 GMC Yukon Styling

The upcoming model is in the final stage of development, but the company still keeps aesthetics as a secret. The testing model has been spotted but it still rides completely covered. Still, there is no doubt that the 2020 GMC Yukon will come based on the brand’s latest design language. In this case, this would mean a front end that looks pretty much the same as on the recently introduced Sierra truck. Of course, count on the famous Denali version in the offer as well, which comes with a fine number of distinctive details, with a unique grille design, lots of chrome and other flashy details that will accentuate its premium character. On the other side, the rear end of the new model should come in a typical SUV manner. The XL version will be particularly boxy and spacious on the back, with highly functional cargo area as well.

2020 GMC Yukon Interior

Although several reports suggested the 2020 GMC Yukon concept version first, we are pretty sure that the company will present the final product quite soon. The production should have premiere at some of the major car shows and we don’t expect to see its interior before that. Of course, we count on a completely new cabin. The new model will come with a completely new dashboard design, with finer materials and more tech features. The overall layout will remain the same. Still, we count on a little bit more space, especially in the third row, which is quite tight in the current version.

Another important novelty that will significantly improve comfort, especially in rear rows, is an independent rear suspension. It is expected to be offered, at least as an option. Naturally, count on a longer list of standard equipment, particularly in terms of tech goodies and latest safety and driver assistance features. As a top-range version, the 2020 GMC Yukon Denali interior will come with various unique styling details, as well as with a fine number of exclusive standard features.

2020 GMC Yukon Engines

Just like its counterpart, Chevy Tahoe, the next-generation Yukon will also come with some pretty interesting novelties under the hood. One of them is a new four-cylinder engine, which debuted in the new Silverado. It is a 2.7-liter turbo-four unit, which delivers around 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Rest of the engine lineup should continue in the same way. There are two familiar V8 units. A smaller one is a 5.3-liter engine with 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. The bigger 6.2-liter unit is good for about 420 horses and 460 pound-feet of torque. Also, various reports suggest a diesel version in the offer too. It should be a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel, which should feature around 280 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque.
