After months of rumors and speculations, the 2020 Ranger is here. Many of us expected to see the U.S. version of the 2020 Ford Ranger Raptor but it looks like we won’t see it before a complete overhaul, which is expected in the next year. Until then, the North American drivers will have to count on standard models only. On the other side, the 2020 Ford Ranger Raptor will carry on in Australia, UK and few more markets in the same way. You may count on various upgrades over standard models, both in terms of mechanics and aesthetics.

The rest of the lineup will also carry on in the same way. We expect to see it on sale in the next couple of weeks and the price should remain pretty much the same.

2020 Ford Ranger Raptor Specs

When it comes to the 2020 Ford Ranger Raptor specs, you may count on pretty much the same model from the last year. This means a lot of upgrades over base models. In terms of mechanics, you may count on completely new suspension setup, higher ground clearance, standard 4×4 drive, skid plates and plenty of other upgrades. Of course, there are numerous styling enhancements as well, starting from the famous blacked grille, the same one you can find on the F-150 Raptor, as well as a unique blue finish, bigger wheels and more.

Interior

When it comes to interior design, there are several upgrades over the standard model. Of course, some of the things that come to mind are exclusive sporty seats, upgraded upholstery and many other things. Of course, the overall layout is pretty much the same as on standard models, which means a pretty classic dashboard design, with durable materials and a lot of functionality.

Of course, one of the most important features of this model is powertrain. Of course, the 2020 Ford Ranger Raptor engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel, which is good for about 213 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque. With such numbers, this truck is more powerful compared to most diesel rivals, though we have to say that we’ve expected more from something that wears the famous “Raptor” badge. It needs around 10.5 seconds to hit 60 miles per hour, isn’t spectacular, compared to “ordinary” rivals. Still, we like that 10-speed automatic transmission very much, as it makes driving experience much better.

North Americal Model Carries On In the Same Way

Despite the rumors and expectations, the 2020 Ford Ranger Raptor USA version won’t come.  We are about to see the same models as in the outgoing 2019 model year. This includes the same 2.3-liter turbo-four engine, which is good for about 270 horsepower and ensures max towing capacity of 7.500 pounds. It comes in pair with a new 10-speed automatic transmission and you can count on three familiar trim levels in the offer, XL, XLT and Lariat. The base model starts at around 25.000 dollars.

Ford Ranger Raptor Is Coming to U.S. Next Year

The Ford Ranger Raptor USA didn’t come this year, but it will in the near future. The next-generation of the mid-size pickup truck is on the way and will hit the market in the next year. Along with standard models, we are about to see this version as well. Of course, it is still early to talk about the details, but we may presume that there will be a lot of interesting novelties.

In terms of base design characteristics, the new Raptor will be based on the standard model, which is about to come with a completely new design, with various improvements. The latest reports suggest that we won’t see a completely new platform, but rather an updated version of the current T6 architecture. A lot of design solutions will be borrowed from the full-size F-150, particularly in terms of the use of lightweight materials and similar things.

Naturally, the 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor will take a lot of inspiration from the F-150 Raptor. This includes various styling details, so we may count on a similar grille design, more muscular fenders and similar trademark styling details. Also, count on numerous mechanical upgrades, including off-road suspension, 4×4 system, off-road tires and wheels, skid plates and more.

Under the hood, the new Ford Ranger Raptor will probably feature the company’s familiar 2.7-liter V6 engine. This engine is already available in the standard F-150 and it is good for about 325 horsepower. Whether we are about to see some power boost for this occasion or not, it is hard to say at the moment.

We expect to see this model sometime late in 2020. The price should go somewhere between 40.000 and 45.000 dollars. Key competitors should be models like Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, Chevy Colorado ZR2 etc.
