After the recent redesign of close rivals, we are hearing a lot of stories about the 2020 Ford F-150 Redesign. However, the fact is that the current, 13th generation of the most legendary truck in the world is still fresh enough to compete with younger rivals. It is on the market for about four years. Moreover, it received a facelift recently, so are pretty sure that the current form will remain for another couple of years.
Therefore, the 2020 Ford F-150 will actually come pretty much unchanged. The recent update has brought a lot of visual novelties, as well as a couple of new engines. The interior has been upgraded as well. All in all, Ford still has strong cars in its hands.
When will F-150 be redesigned?
As we already mentioned, it is way too early for a complete redesign. The current generation is on the market since 2014, while a mid-cycle update happened recently. Therefore, we don’t count on a redesign to come so soon.
Compared to some previous generations, this production cycle will be longer, mainly because of all those revolutionary changes that came with the last redesign. Most experts suggest redesign for the 2021 or 2022 model.
2020 Ford F-150 Design
Since the redesign is still far away, we are pretty sure that the 2020 Ford F-150 will come without more important novelties. Count on the same design from four years ago, which utilizes lots of new, light materials. This mostly refers to aluminum and HSS.
Of course, keep in mind that the recent update has brought lots of novelties in terms of styling. The new model features a completely new front end, which now closely resembles the Super Duty series. This truck definitely looks more rugged now, we would say much more attractive as well. There are some tweaks to the rear as well. On the other side, the overall shape remains untouched.
Which configurations will be in the offer?
Count of familiar configurations for the 2020 Ford F-150. This means three cab designs and three bed sizes. Regular and Super Cab models will be available with either 6-feet 6-inch or 8-feet bed. On the other side, Super Crew models can be coupled with either 6-feet 6-inch or 5-feet 6-inch bed.
2020 Ford F-150 Interior
The interior will probably be the most critical aspect of the 2020 Ford F-150. New Ram 1500 and Chevy Silverado 1500 feature more upscale cabins, though we actually can’t find anything bad about the F-150 either. Simply, two rivals feature finer materials, but the overall quality is on a pretty high level. It is practical, durable and spacious as well. Also, higher trims feature pretty impressive lists of standard equipment.
Count on six well-known trim levels in the offer for the 2020 Ford F-150. Those would be XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited.
The XL and XLT are classical work machines, so you won’t find too may convenience in them. Still, you can count on things like 4.2-inch central display screen, a four-speaker radio, a rearview camera, and forward collision warning with automatic braking. The XLT adds an 8-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi connectivity, additional USB ports etc.
We are pretty sure that the 2020 Ford F-150 Lariat will continue to be one of the most popular version, due to its long list of standard equipment and still reasonable price. Some of the highlights, remote ignition, and power-adjustable, heated front seats. rear cross-traffic alert, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, ventilated seats, ambient lighting and much more.
The King Ranch brings us to the area of luxury trims. This one adds several interesting features but more importantly, it comes with lots of distinctive, western-inspired details both outside and on the inside,
The Platinum and Limited trims put this truck in the premium segment and you can get pretty much everything you want in these two.
2020 Ford F-150 Engines
The recent update has brought lots of interesting novelties under the hood. First of all, there is a new base engine, with a displacement of 3.3 liters and a max output of 290 horses. There is also a new 3.0-liter diesel engine, which delivers around 250 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque.
Some reports suggest a 2020 Ford F-150 Hybrid version to come, though we are pretty sure that truck electrification won’t come so soon.
Rest of the engine lineup remains the same. There is a 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost, which is good for about 325 hp and 400 lb-ft. A bigger 3.5-liter V6 is good for about 375 horses. The lineup ends with the 5.0-liter Coyote, which delivers around 395 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.
Of course, we will see the 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor in the offer as well, with a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6, which delivers around 450 horsepower.
