2020 Ford Expedition Specs, Hybrid, Price

2020 Ford Expedition

If we can rely on the latest reports, there is a chance to see a couple of updates for the 2020 Ford Expedition. The current generation of the legendary full-size SUV hasn’t been around for a too long. If came less than two years ago and, for the segment standards, it is still a quite fresh vehicle, as most of the competitors are much older. However, things will change in the next year, as the biggest rival, Chevy Tahoe is about to come completely new. It will bring a lot of novelties, so Ford is allegedly planning some updates, in order to retain a leading position in the segment. We shouldn’t see any styling change or something like that. The 2020 Ford Expedition could come with a new powertrain.

Some reports are suggesting a diesel version of the SUV, which wouldn’t be a surprise at all. Still, take this rumors with a reserve. Despite potential changes, the 2020 Ford Expedition shouldn’t arrive before late 2019.

2020 Ford Expedition Design

As we already mentioned, some changes may come for the next year but the overall design will definitely remain the same. The current generation has been around for just a couple of years. It shares the platform with the legendary F-150, so you may presume it features some quite advanced design solutions. This particularly refers to the use of lightweight materials, which makes the Expedition lighter than most competitors, which also means better efficiency.

When it comes to styling, we will probably have to wait for another year or two to see changes. The 2020 Ford Expedition should continue with the same styling, which is based on the company’s current design language. The front end shares a lot with the truck sibling, while the rest of the body comes in a common SUV design. Besides standard version, Ford also offers a stretched model, known as the Expedition Max, which features impressive 136 inches in wheelbase and competes with Chevy Suburban.

Interior

Things on the inside are about to remain the same. The 2020 Ford Expedition interior will feature a familiar layout, which heavily relies on the F-150. The dashboard is practically the same. So, the SUV looks pretty rugged from the inside, though we must say that materials are great and that everything looks pretty refined. After all, this probably doesn’t bother potential buyers at all. The thing they appreciate most is the Expeditions interior space. This is one of the most generous models in the class when it comes to leg and headroom. If you choose a long-wheelbase version, things are even more impressive. In both cases, all three rows of seats are generous in space and can accommodate adults without bigger worries. Seating capacity goes up to eight people.

When it goes to the cargo volume, base models offer around 21 cubic feet behind the third row, while the overall cargo space goes around 105 cubic feet. Things are even more impressive in stretched models, where you can count on 36 cubic feet behind the third row and astonishing 136 cubic feet of overall cargo space.

2020 Ford Expedition Tech and Safety Features

This is where we could see some novelties for the 2020 Ford Expedition, though we must say that the current model is already quite decent in this aspect. Still, one of the drawbacks in base models is a small 4.2-inch display. Instead of it, an 8-inch touchscreen should become standard in all trims. Other than that, things will probably remain pretty much the same.

When it comes to safety, some reports suggest that the list of standard features could be significantly expanded and include things like automatic high beams, lane departure warning, lane keeps assist, pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and many more. At this point, we are still waiting to hear something from the officials.

2020 Ford Expedition Engine

Without any doubt, the 2020 Expedition will continue with the same 3.5-liter V6 engine under the hood. It delivers 375 or 400 horsepower, depending on the trim level. With such amount of power, you can count not just on great performances, but on excellent towing ratings as well. The 2020 Ford Expedition towing capacity will go around 9.300 pounds. However, the upcoming Tahoe will probably have four engines in the offer, including an oil-burner. Therefore, some reports suggest the 2020 Ford Expedition Diesel come. At this point, those are just rumors and you should take this with a dose of a reserve.

2020 Ford Expedition release date

Is there a chance to see a hybrid version?

We have no doubt that an electrified version of this SUV will come some day. Unfortunately, the 2020 Ford Expedition Hybrid won’t happen this year, and probably won’t before the end of the current production cycle.

2020 Ford Expedition Release Date and Price

The 2020 Ford Expedition release date should be scheduled for the end of the year. We don’t expect changes in price, so base models should go around 52.000 dollars.
