2020 Ford Everest Review, Release Date, USA
Those who are not familiar with the Ford Everest nameplate don’t know how capable this SUV actually is. It rides on a traditional body-on-frame platform and shares most of its characteristics with the Ranger pickup. However, it’s not available in too many parts of the world. Its main market is Australia, but the models can be found in several Asian countries as well. The current generation has been around since 2015, so this seems like a perfect time to see a mid-cycle refresh. The new model has already been presented in certain markets, so we can easily see that changes are pretty subtle, most of them are in terms of the styling, though there are some revisions under the hood as well. On the inside, the 2020 Ford Everest remains pretty much the same. The new model should arrive to the rest of the markets in the next few months.
2020 Ford Everest Design
This update brings a couple of interesting changes. Still, the core of this SUV remains the same. As we already mentioned, the current generation has been around for about four years. It is heavily based on the popular Ranger truck, as it rides on the same platform and shares not just mechanics, but many styling details as well. This update brings primarily visual changes.
We can’t say this is a typical facelift, considering that changes are pretty subtle. Practically, the biggest novelty is a new grille. It features a little bit different design, with three bars and a new mesh pattern. Other than that, things are pretty familiar. The overall shape is the same, though we could see new wheels designs, as well as new color options. More details will be known in the near future.
On the inside, the 2020 Ford Everest comes without important changes. The cabin is spacious and looks quite attractive. Still, keep in mind that this is a truck-based SUV, with traditional BoF platform, so the interior design follows such design character as well.
Therefore, the dashboard is full of plastics, while the shape is rather bold and very simple. Still, that doesn’t mean that Ford Everest 2020 will lack opulence. It definitely won’t, considering that the current model already comes with lots of standard equipment, including tech features like a touchscreen interface, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and more. For the next year, we could see a couple of additions, though the details are still unavailable.
As we already mentioned, the base interior layout will remain the same. Therefore, three rows of seats will be standard features. The cabin is spacious and comfortable. The first two rows are quite generous in terms of space, while the third one is, typically for the segment, pretty tight.
When it comes to powertrain, the exact offer of engines depends on the market. Therefore, a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo-four isn’t available in many countries. The engine is good for about 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque.
Diesel engines are more popular in this part of the world, so there are two choices that are available in pretty much all markets where this SUV can be found. Of course, we are talking about a familiar 2.0-liter Duratorq engine, which comes in two variants. The basic, single-turbo version is good for about 180 horsepower, while the twin-turbo variant delivers more than 210 horsepower.
Another thing we should mention in this 2020 Ford Everest review is that, on certain markets, you can also find an older-generation 3.2-liter Power Stroke diesel engine, which is good for about 185 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. It’s not the most efficient engine around, but it is very reliable and durable, which makes it a perfect choice for this occasion.
2020 Ford Everest Release Date and Price
When it comes to the 2020 Ford Everest release date, the new model will be arriving in the following months. In terms of the price, we don’t expect bigger changes. In Australia, base models go around 49.000 Australian Dollars.
2020 Ford Everest Could Come to North America!?
In the past few months, we’ve been hearing various reports about the 2020 Ford Everest USA model. However, this won’t happen. Despite that the Everest is an amazing SUV, it won’t arrive in the U.S. market, considering that the Blue Oval company is bringing back the famous Bronco, which will be pretty similar in size.
