2020 Chevy Suburban Hits the Market this Fall
It’s no secret that the 2020 Chevy Suburban is about to receive a complete overhaul in the next year. The testing model has been spotted almost a year ago and since then, we are constantly getting updates about next-generation. Although still under a camouflage, it’s becoming obvious that the new model is in the final stage of developing. The company is testing some of the newest design solutions and it looks like the new SUV will definitely have a lot of things to offer. We are about to see a completely new design, based on the company’s new T1 platform. Also, count on a new styling and a whole plethora of other novelties. Novelties under the hood are about to come as well.
The new model will get a couple of new engines and we are also getting reports about a diesel-powered version. When it comes to the 2020 Chevy Suburban release date, we should see the new model sometime in the third quarter of the year.
2020 Chevy Suburban Redesign
A lot of novelties are about to come with this 2020 Chevy Suburban redesign and one of the first things that come to mind is a new platform. There’s no doubt that the new SUV will ride on the company’s new T1 architecture, which debuted with the new-generation Silverado and will underprint all full-size SUVs and trucks in GM’s lineup. It will bring a lot of improvement and one of the most important is definitely weight reduction. Considering that the new Silverado is for about 300 pounds lighter than the previous model, we could expect the same from the new Suburban. With such savings, we can expect improved efficiency and driving dynamics.
Another important thing to mention is a new, independent rear suspension. It is still unclear is it going to be offered in all models, or it will be reserved for higher trims only. In any case, the comfort will be raised significantly, especially in second and third rows of seats.
As we already mentioned, the testing model has been riding around almost a year. However, it still wears a camouflage, so we can’t talk about aesthetical details. However, we can presume it will have a lot of similarities with the new Silverado. The recently-redesigned truck has introduced a completely new design language, which is mostly characterized by sharper lines and some interesting design solutions. One of the is a new bumper layout, which comes with air curtains for each wheel on the front axle. It won’t just ensure better aerodynamics, but also provide enough fresh air for brakes.
While the front end should look pretty much the same as on the popular full-size truck, the rest of the vehicle will keep a similar proportion and a typical SUV body layout. However, some reports suggest that the 2020 Chevy Suburban will grow for a little bit. This promises more space on the inside.
This aspect of the new model is still a bit of mystery. Still, we may presume some of the most features and design characteristics. In terms of aesthetics, we count on a new dashboard design. It shouldn’t include too many radical changes compared to the current model. Still, we count on upgrades in terms of finer materials and better overall quality. This will be crucial for competing with the Ford Expedition Max. This would also include a lot of new tech features, starting from an updated infotainment system, more connectivity features, advanced driver aids etc. As we already mentioned, the new model could be slightly bigger than the current one, which in practice means additional legroom and more cargo volume. Such improvements are always more than welcome.
Big Novelties Are Coming Under the Hood!
One of the biggest advantages over the excellent Ford Expedition will be a much wider powertrain lineup. While the Expedition comes with only one engine in the offer, the 2020 Chevy Suburban will come with four of them. Current V8 units will carry one without changes. So, count on familiar 5.3- and 6.2-liter V8 units, which are good for about 355 and 420 horsepower, respectively. Additionally, GM will come with a new base engine. It will be a recently-introduced 2.7-liter turbo-four unit, which is good for about 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque.
The 2020 Chevy Suburban Diesel will definitely be very interesting to many buyers. We count on a 3.0-liter turbodiesel unit, which should be good for about 280 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque.
Finally, we count on a new 10-speed automatic transmission to be on the offer, at least as an option.
2020 Chevy Suburban Release Date and Price
The upcoming model is in the final stage of development. So, we expect that the 2020 Chevy Suburban debut will happen sometime in the third quarter of the year.
When it comes to the 2020 Chevy Suburban price, it shouldn’t be much different compared to the current model, at least when it comes to base models, which currently go around 51.000 dollars.
