After the recent facelift, the 2020 Buick Envision is expected to feature no bigger changes. The current generation of this compact crossover has been around since 2016, so this update seems a little bit earlier that is should be. This may indicate a shorter production cycle, though we believe that the redesign won’t happen in the next two years for sure. In any case, the next year won’t bring anything particular. The 2020 Buick Envision will be typical carryover model, which will continue with familiar design characteristic and features. Count on the same, recently-updated styling, as well as same mechanics and overall design. On the other side, we could see a few novelties in terms of standard equipment, but nothing significant. Therefore, we don’t expect to see this model before the last quarter of the year. The price should also remain pretty much the same.
2020 Buick Envision Design
The overall design of this compact crossover has been the same for about four years. The current generation is on the market since 2016 and should carry on for a couple of more year. As we already mentioned, this crossover received a facelift last year, so all those novelties should carry on in the new model as well. Among notable modifications, visual updates come to mind first. There is a new grille, as well as slightly reshaped headlights and front bumper. On the rear end, you can notice new taillights and a few more tweaks.
Of course, there are typical updates in terms of colors and wheels. Other than visual changes, this crossover features new seating position, start/stop push-button and a couple of more interesting novelties. Considering all these changes, it would be too much to expect anything important from the 2020 Buick Envision. It will continue in the same way and in the best case, we could see a couple of new colors but nothing more than that.
Interior
Once again, no bigger changes are expected. The 2020 Buick Envision will continue with the same interior layout, which pretty much on par with other premium models in the class. Of course, it can’t match the opulence of German competitors, but the overall quality is too good to put this crossover in the segment of economy crossovers. Besides hi-quality and attractive color schemes, this cabin is also quite comfortable. Typically for the class, there are two relatively spacious rows of seats. Front seats are pretty massive and with good support, while the second row is decent as well. When it comes to the cargo capacity, the Envision is also pretty decent. You can count on about 27 cubic feet behind rear seats, while the overall cargo capacity goes around 57 cubic feet.
Tech and Safety Features
Although some novelties are possible, the list of standard tech features shouldn’t change too much. The current model already comes with all the essentials, such as things like 8-inch touch screen, two USB ports, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot etc. Of course, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included as well. Naturally, there is much more in higher trim levels, where you can also get things like a moonroof, navigation, a seven-speaker Bose audio system, wireless device charging and many more things.
Unfortunately, Buick isn’t that generous in terms of safety features. A rearview camera and rear parking sensors are only standard features. Still, you can get much more in higher trim levels, including advanced systems like adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, front parking sensors, parallel and perpendicular park assist, a 360-degree camera etc.
2020 Buick Envision Engines
The 2020 Buick Envision will continue with two familiar gasoline engines in the offer. Base models will carry on with a naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit, which delivers around 197 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque. Still, an optional turbo-four seems like a much better deal. This 2.0-liter unit delivers around 250 horsepower and impressive 295 pound-feet of torque, which ensures notably quicker acceleration and more refined overall drive. When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg. These are pretty good numbers for the class. However, if you prefer a peppier ride, you will have to accept not so great 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway with an optional turbo engine. When it comes to transmission, the base engine comes with a 6- while a turbo engine comes paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
2020 Buick Envision Release Date and Price
The 2020 Buick Envision is coming without more important changes, so we shouldn’t see it on the market before the last quarter of the year. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 32.000 dollars. Main competitors are premium crossovers like Lincoln MKC or Infiniti QX50. Also, there are higher trims of mainstream models like Toyota RAV4, VW Tiguan and Honda CR-V.
