The second generation of this mid-size luxury crossover is about to receive a major update for the next year. The popular model has been around since 2015, so this seems like a perfect time to see some refresh, especially if we consider that some of the key rivals, such as BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, have been completely redesigned recently. Therefore, the company from Ingolstadt will offer some changes as well, in order to remain competitive for a few more years, until we see a complete redesign. Of course, most of these changes will be visual, but latest reports also suggest big changes inside the cabin. On the other side, the powertrain lineup will remain the same, with the possible addition of a new, hi-performance version. Considering all these changes, the 2020 Audi Q7 should hit the market a little bit earlier, probably sometime in the third quarter of the year.

2020 Audi Q7 Exterior
Considering that the competition significantly updated its models, many expected to see even a complete redesign in the near future, however, the 2020 Audi Q7 redesign definitely doesn’t sound likely, if we consider that the current generation has been around since 2015. Therefore, a mid-cycle refresh seems like a perfect update. We are about to see a nice amount of changes. Of course, exterior changes come first to mind, as they are most typical for these updates. Like all German carmaker, Audi isn’t very generous with novelties during production cycles. So, the 2020 Audi Q7 changes will be rather modest. Naturally, most of them will come at the front end, where we expect tweaks on the bumper, headlights, grille etc. The rear end will probably feature only modification of taillights and a taillight. Also, count on those typical updates, such as new color options, new sets of wheels etc.
Interior
Interestingly, the 2020 Audi Q7 interior will come with more changes than you would usually expect to see. The current model looks pretty stylish and features excellent build quality. However, Audi wants to remain competitive with closest rivals and one of the best ways is to rework on the dashboard. Therefore, the new model will adopt the dashboard design from the new Q8, which is characterized by a dual-touchscreen central stack, as well as by a couple of more interesting features.

Still, the overall cabin layout won’t change. Count on same dimensions and proportions, which in practice means pretty spacious and comfortable two rows of seats, with pretty good support. The third row is standard but, typically for a mid-size SUV, it doesn’t feature too much comfort, so it should be left for children. When it comes to the cargo capacity, you can count on about 15 cubic feet behind the third, and around 37.5 cubic feet behind the second row.
2020 Audi Q7 Engines
When it comes to standard models, we are about to see the same engines in the offer. North American drivers can count on to familiar gasoline units. Base versions will come with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which is good for 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, which is an amount of power that would satisfy most drivers. Still, if you prefer something peppier, there is an excellent 3.0-liter V6 offered as optional. This engine is good for about 330 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come paired with a refined 8-speed automatic transmission.
When it comes to fuel economy, you can count on above-average mpg ratings. Both engines feature quite similar fuel economy, which goes around 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
2020 Audi SQ7
One of the most interesting additions for the next year will be a new performance version, called 2020 Audi Q7. It will come with several modifications compared to the standard model. Of course, many of them will be visual, as we expect to see tweaks on bumpers, new wheels and various other body upgrades. Of course, the company will introduce some mechanical upgrades as well. Count on a tuned suspension, brakes and similar things. The interior will also come with a couple of new details that will emphasize its sporty character.

However, the most distinctive part of this version will be the engine. The new SQ7 will come with a well-known 4.0-liter V8 TDI engine under the hood. This unit delivers impressive 435 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque. Such amount of power ensures 0-60 time in less than five seconds. Unfortunately, this version won’t be available in North America.
Release Date and Price
Given all these updates, the 2020 Audi Q7 release date will be scheduled for some earlier date than usual. We expect to see it sometime in the third quarter of the year. Base models will go around 54.000 dollars.
