2020 Audi Q5 hybrid

Given the fact that the current generation of this compact crossover is still relatively fresh, we don’t expect to see too many 2020 Audi Q5 changes. The popular model holds one of the leading positions on the market and that is for a good reason. It was redesigned a couple of years ago and it is now among class leaders in many aspects, starting from excellent interior quality, athletic handling, comfortable ride etc.

Despite we will have to wait for at least one more year to see a mid-cycle refresh, that doesn’t mean there are no novelties to come for the upcoming model. We expect that the German manufacturer will do something in terms of the list of standard safety features, which currently isn’t long enough. Also, count on a couple of new color options, tech updates, and similar things. The new model should hit the market in the fall.

2020 Audi Q5 changes

2020 Audi Q5 Design

The current generation is currently in the second production year, so we don’t expect to see any notable change in terms of base design characteristics for the next year. The 2020 Audi Q5 design will continue in a familiar way, which relies on the company’s familiar MLB architecture, which underprints pretty much everything from Audi and other premium cars from the VW Group.

This particular model shares most of its parts with the Porsche Macan. The styling is typically conservative and latest reports suggest that a facelift could happen in about a year or two. The new Q8 came recently with a brand-new design language and that is the direction where we expect from the restyled model to go. Still, don’t count on anything significant, as this company is famous for its cautious, conservative styling approach.

Once again, don’t expect bigger changes. The 2020 Audi Q5 interior may come with a couple of new color schemes, but the overall cabin layout will definitely remain the same. This crossover features one of the finest cabins in the class, characterized not just by hi-quality materials, but also by a lot of attention given to details. The dashboard looks very stylish and opulent, while leather upholstery comes standard. Front seats are massive and comfortable, with very good support.

The rear bench is also well-made. Generally, it offers a lot of legroom, but a big complaint goes to a huge center hump, which practically reduces the capacity to four adults. Still, most Audi lovers won’t mind these issues, as it is an issue that traditionally bothers pretty much all models from the VW Group. When it comes to the cargo area, the Q5 features pretty average numbers for the class. You can count on about 27 cubic feet behind the second row, while the overall capacity goes around 60 cubic feet.

Safety

One of the aspects where we expect to see a lot of 2020 Audi Q5 changes is safety. The current model doesn’t feature a too short list of standard advanced driver aids but given the starting price, most buyers were a little bit disappointed. Therefore, we expect from the German manufacturer to bring some additions to the list of standard safety systems. Some of the possible additions are things like rear cross traffic alert, front and rear park assist, blind spot monitoring, a 360-degree parking camera, a head-up display etc.

2020 Audi Q5 Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, things will remain pretty much the same. The base 2020 Audi Q5 will continue with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine, which is good for about 250 horsepower. An optional V6 engine is reserved for the performance, SQ5 model. It is a well-known 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine, which delivers around 350 horsepower.

In some markets, such as Europe, this compact crossover is also available with an oil-burner. It is a well-known 3.0-liter V6 TDI engine, which is good for 282 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque.

All engines are paired with 8-speed automatic transmission.

Is there a chance to see a hybrid version?

The hybrid powertrain will definitely come in the near future and all models from this company will be available in electrified versions. However, 2020 Audi Q5 hybrid definitely won’t come. We will probably have to wait for a couple more years. More details will be known once we hear some words from the officials.

2020 Audi Q5 release date

2020 Audi Q5 Release Date and Price

Given the lack of novelties, the 2020 Audi Q5 release date should be scheduled for the last quarter of the years. We don’t expect to see changes in terms of the price either. Currently, base models go around 43.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3, as well as models like Acura RDX, Lexus NX, Volvo XC60 etc.
